2023 Toyota RAV4

So you’re shopping for a new Toyota and looking for something fuel-efficient and on the compact side. Toyota of Orlando is here to help – today we’re comparing the 2023 Toyota RAV4 to the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross.

How does the new Toyota RAV4 compare to the Corolla Cross?

There’s a lot going on in the world of compact SUVs and crossovers – for the first time, these are the most desirable options in the sea of trucks, sedans, minivans, hatchbacks, and coupes. And with good reason – gone are the bloated and inefficient days of SUVs past. Today’s SUV and crossover options are fuel-efficient (even boasting hybrid options) as well as streamlined and affordable. We’re comparing two of the most popular options – here’s how the 2023 Toyota RAV4 stands up to the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross.

Performance

  • The 2023 Toyota RAV4 has three engine options to choose from – a 2.5L 4-cylinder (30 mpg), a hybrid (40 mpg), and a plug-in hybrid.
  • The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross has two options – a 2.5L 4-cylinder (32 mpg)  or a hybrid (37 mpg).

No matter which way you slice it, both offer fuel-efficient options, but if you want a plug-in hybrid, you should opt for the RAV4. Here are some other performance aspects to consider:

  • The RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 lbs without batting an eye. The Corolla Cross maxes out at 1,500 lbs.
  • The RAV4 also has more off-roading ability than the Corolla Cross. It comes in TRD, Adventure, and Woodland Edition trims, and has a higher ground clearance in general (which is better for uneven terrain).
  • The RAV4 gets more horsepower (203 vs 169) in the gas engine options than the Corolla Cross, and slightly more torque (165 lb-ft vs 151 lb-ft).
  • Both vehicles are available in all-wheel drive options.

2023 Toyota Corolla Cross

Interior

The interior of the Orlando Toyota Corolla Cross and RAV4 are pretty similar, believe it or not, and share a lot of the same technology and appearance options (we’re talking Apple CarPlay, Softex, etc.). However, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 is slightly more spacious than the Corolla Cross, as it’s larger. Both seat five and in terms of cargo space, the RAV4 offers 37.6 cubic feet while the Corolla Cross clocks in at 24 cubic feet.

Safety

In terms of safety features, again, you’ll find a lot of similar options including Toyota Safety Sense, Advanced Airbag Systems, backup cameras, Star Safety System, and more. However, when it boils down to IIHS Crash Test Scores (for 2022, not 2023 – 2023 is not available yet), the Corolla Cross is the winner. It’s an IIHS Top Safety Pick +, while the RAV4 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick (without the +).

Price

If you’re looking for the more budget-friendly option of the two, you should go for the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. It has a starting MSRP of $23,060 while the 2023 Toyota RAV4 has a starting MSRP of $27,975.

You’ll have more options in the 2023 Toyota RAV4. It comes in 16 trims, including 7 electrified options and special models like the Woodland Edition. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross comes in 3 gasoline grades and five hybrid grades.

You’ll get the same warranty when you buy these Orlando Toyotas – both offer a 3-year/36,000 mile basic warranty and a five-year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty. Additionally, both vehicles offer the same warranty for corrosion and restraints.

Toyota Camry vs Honda Accord

So you’re shopping for a new car and looking at midsize sedans. The two probably at the forefront of your research are the 2023 Toyota Camry and the 2023 Honda Accord – two of the most popular and sought-after sedans on the market. But which one is better? While both of these new cars are solid options for your next vehicle, we think the Toyota Camry has some definite advantages. We’re here to walk you through it – see how the Toyota Camry LE vs Honda Accord LX comparison for 2023 stacks up!

How do the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord compare for 2023?

Convenience

When it comes to convenience and comfort, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord have a lot in common. Both sedans offer features like automatic climate control, power door locks, multi-function steering wheels, automatic high beams, and Bluetooth wireless streaming. However, here’s where the Orlando Toyota Camry stands out in terms of convenience:

  • It has two climate control zones; the Honda Accord only has one. This makes it more difficult to appease passengers when it comes to comfort.
  • It offers both a heated steering wheel and heated door mirrors, as well as one-touch power windows for ALL windows, including both rear windows. None of these options are available on its Honda competitor.
  • The 2023 Toyota Camry offers power-adjustable front seats with electric lumbar adjustment as a standard feature, as well as heated front seats as an option. You won’t find these elements on the Honda Accord.
  • The 2023 Toyota Camry also has six speakers (compared to the Honda Accord’s four) for an exceptional listening experience, as well as standard satellite radio.
  • You can also opt for a front sunroof in the 2023 Toyota Camry – you won’t have this option in the new Honda Accord.

Performance

Now let’s talk about performance. You know you can expect top safety, fuel-efficient performance, and major reliability from both the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. Additionally, both models are available as hybrids. However, there are a few advantages of the 2023 Toyota Camry that are worth noting:

  • The Orlando Toyota Camry has a 2.5L 4-cylinder under the hood; the Honda Accord has a 1.5L 4-cylinder. This means that the Toyota gets more horsepower (203 hp vs Honda’s 192 hp).
  • It also gets better fuel efficiency, too. The Toyota Camry gets 39 mpg on the highway while the Accord falls a little short at 37 mpg.
  • This Orlando Toyota comes with a blind spot monitor option that’s not available on its Honda competition, and the option of cross-traffic alert (also unavailable on the Honda Accord).
  • Additionally, the Toyota Camry received a 5 in its NHTSA frontal crash rating.

Additionally, just a side note – the 2023 Toyota Camry offers a sporty, edgy new Nightshade Edition that’s unmatched in the Honda lineup.

Ownership

What about ownership of the Toyota Camry vs Honda Accord? As we said, both of these rides have their perks and when it comes to dependability and longevity, are pretty much unbeatable. Here’s where we feel the 2023 Toyota Camry pulls ahead:

  • Your new Toyota will come with ToyotaCare. This means 24 months or unlimited miles of roadside assistance, whichever comes first. Honda has a 36,000-mile cap on their mileage for roadside assistance.
  • You’ll also get 1,000 more miles of no-cost maintenance (like oil changes and tire rotations) with Toyota – their maintenance plan stretches for 24 months or 25,000 miles.

Test drive the 2023 Toyota Camry in person today

Still have questions? The best way to decide between the Toyota Camry vs Honda Accord is to see for yourself. Take this 2023 Toyota for a spin at Toyota of Orlando today – we’re open and waiting! You can find us at 3575 Vineland Road, just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall. Call today for more information at (407) 298-4500.

how to escape a sinking car

Did you know that according to studies, 10,000 water immersion auto accidents occur each year? A water immersion accident is when a car runs off the road and submerges in water. Oftentimes the passengers survive, but it can end in tragedy. Would you know how to react if your car went off the road and into a body of water and began to sink? Toyota of Orlando is here with a guide on how to escape a sinking car so you have the knowledge in your pocket in case of an emergency – read on.

It may sound simple, but escaping a sinking car is trickier than you might imagine. The vehicle usually fills up faster than you’d think and it’s often dark under the surface; if you’re upside down or injured, it can make you even more disoriented. That’s why it’s critical to know how to escape a sinking car before it happens – you may not have much time to react.

The five steps of escaping a sinking car

#1: Stay calm. Easier said than done, we know – but if you’re going to escape a sinking car, you have to stay calm. Panic is what causes drowning, so you can’t afford it. Try to take deep, even breaths to keep oxygen flowing to your lungs and brain, and take things step by step based on what you know.

Also, tell your passengers about the plan as quickly as you can – this will help them stay calmer, too.

#2: Try to act quickly. Your best chance to act is within the first 30 seconds to 2 minutes of going into the water. Your car will float for a very short window of time, and that’s the BEST time to act. Unbuckle yourself and your passengers before you do anything else so you can all exit the vehicle as quickly as possible.

#3: Know how to exit. The water will press on your doors and make it very difficult to open them unless you open them before the car starts to sink. Additionally, once you open the door a huge amount of water will flood in, making your car sink faster. Your best bet for exit is the window. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Automatic windows don’t automatically short-circuit underwater but they will after a period of time. If the water hasn’t reached your windows, roll the window down immediately.
  • If your car is already sinking and water has reached the windows, the pressure may prevent you from rolling it down. In this case, you’ll need to break the window. That’s why we recommend having a car escape tool made especially for this in your car, like a Lifehammer.
  • Remember, your car windows are tempered glass and that combined with the pressure means you won’t be able to kick or punch your windows out. Use your car escape tool to break one side window and swim out – keep in mind that when you break the window water will rush in, but you should still be able to escape.
  • Rear windows are smaller than front windows, so it’s safer to break a front window to ensure everyone can fit through it.
  • If you have children, push them out of the car first and swim out after them.

#4: Don’t wait for pressure to equalize. There’s a myth out there that you should wait for the car to fill up with water and that will make it easier to escape – when the pressure inside and out equalizes, you can more easily open the door. This isn’t necessarily the best option, though. The pressure will equalize, but it won’t happen the second your car fills up with water. It would take time, which means you have to hold your breath until then and waste precious oxygen.

#5: Swim to safety. Once you and your passengers are out of the car, head for the surface. Don’t try to bring any of your belongings with you; they’ll just slow you down. If you can’t tell which way is up, look for bubbles (the car should be producing a ton of them) and follow them up.

Toyota truck in Orlando

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is coming – its official unveiling will take place on May 19 (at 1:30 am, if you’re a night owl). There’s been a ton of speculation surrounding this new Toyota truck because it’s FINALLY getting a redesign. Toyota hasn’t unleashed all the details just yet, but we have gotten our hands on a few. Here’s everything we know so far about the 2024 Toyota Tacoma!

What’s been released about the 2024 Toyota Tacoma so far

It’s getting a full redesign. And it’s well-deserved – the last time the Orlando Toyota Tacoma was redesigned was way back in 2015. The fourth generation makes its big debut on May 19 and should be in a dealership near you later this year or early next year. We don’t have an official release date yet.

Looking at the teaser photos Toyota has provided, it seems like the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will take stylistic cues from the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequoia. Both of these new trucks were redesigned for a more angular and modern look on the exterior, and we think the new Tacoma will follow suit.

It’s going to have an i-Force Max option. This popular hybrid system is found in both the new Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, and offers increased horsepower and performance while improving fuel efficiency at the same time. We’re also thinking a new engine is in the works for the gas models – the Tundra and Sequoia both got turbocharged engines with their redesign, and we think the new Tacoma will follow suit.

2024 Toyota Tacoma

There are going to be multiple cab + bed options. Toyota released a series of silhouette teaser photos indicating that there will likely be both crew and extended cabs, as well as a long bed option for this Orlando Toyota.

It’s getting a new body-on-frame platform – the TNGA-F platform that’s newly designed by Toyota. This means better off-road performance and handling, as well as more capable towing and a cheaper manufacturing process (which rolls into a lower price for consumers).

You’ll have a six-speed manual transmission option still, so you can stop worrying about it. (A lot of Taco enthusiasts were terrified that a new generation would include Toyota dropping the manual option). Toyota released teaser photos of the gas, brake, and clutch pedals a few weeks ago.

Orlando Toyotas

A new Trailhunter special edition model is getting added to the lineup. We’re expecting it to be perfect for off-roading and overlapping. From the teaser shots, it looks like there are ARB add-ons and tow hooks… and that’s just what we see in a quarter shot.

ARB parts

It looks like the audio system will get a major upgrade. We’re expecting a bigger touchscreen (the current one is 8″) and the new wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Toyota Connected Services to be woven into the mix. Additionally, a JBL option is likely to be up for grabs – Toyota put out a teaser that the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma will have the option of a JBL Flex speaker that can be removed from the truck and used as a portable speaker on the go.

coolest car gadgets 2023

It seems like cars these days get more and more tech-driven, efficient, and connected – every time you get behind the wheel, the comforts of home are never far behind, especially when you drive a new Toyota. However, no matter how cool our – or anyone else’s – cars are, there’s always room for improvement. Our Orlando Toyota dealership has made a list of the coolest car gadgets of 2023 for you to shop.

What are the coolest car gadgets on the market right now?

Car seat gap filler: You know that feeling when you’re driving and all of a sudden your phone slides out of your lap and down into the black hole that exists between your seat and the center console? There’s no going back – if you want your phone, you have to pull over and do a deep dive to excavate it. Well, you can avoid having that feeling ever again by buying a car seat gap filler. These handy inserts go in between your front seats and the center console so you’ll never lose anything to the Marianas Trench ever again.

Screen magnifier: If you’ve got whiny kids in the backseat, you know how rough a road trip can be… especially if you forgot the tablet. A portable screen magnifier lets you do just that – magnify whatever is playing on your phone screen 3-4 times to keep your kids entertained while you focus on hitting the highway.

car gadgets for travel

USB Adapter: There never seem to be enough USB ports in the car, especially when you’ve got a family. A USB adaptor plugs into the cigarette lighter to provide two more ports (who uses the cigarette lighter anymore, anyway?).

high tech car gadgets

Air purifier: Don’t let your seasonal allergies slow you down (and keep your car smelling fresh in the interim) – get a portable air purifier for your Orlando Toyota. We consider this to be one of the coolest car gadgets because it plugs into your 12V outlet and releases negative ions into the air to freshen things up.

car gadgets for cleaning

Thumbs-up and Thumbs-down light: You can yell and flash rude gestures at people all you want but honestly, in our opinion, a simple thumbs-down is way more insulting. Grab a flashing thumbs-up/thumbs-down light and stick it in your back window – you can mount the remote control to your dash and hand out thumbs-downs with the press of a button.

coolest car gadgets

Amazon Echo Auto Gen 2: Are you a big fan of Alexa in your home? Bring her along for the ride – invest in an Amazon Echo Gen 2 adaptor for your car. This high-tech car gadget connects to your phone and your car’s speakers via Bluetooth so you can stream music and podcasts, make calls, check the weather, and more while on the go.

high tech car gadgets 2023

Wireless backup camera: If you’re in an older model that doesn’t have a backup camera and wish you did, technology can save the day. Another one of the coolest high tech car gadgets on the list is a wireless backup camera that you can add after the fact. You mount the camera on the back of your car and the corresponding screen to the dash, giving yourself a 110-degree view of everything behind you without having to shell out for a new Toyota.

car gadgets for safety

Wireless CarPlay Adaptor: If you’re one of the people who bought your Orlando Toyota the year before wireless Apple CarPlay was a thing, we feel your pain (this writer does, at least). However, if you’re sick of the cords, you can invest in a wireless CarPlay adaptor. It syncs to your Bluetooth to allow your Orlando Toyota to utilize wireless Apple CarPlay just as you would if it were hooked up via a USB cord.

wireless adapter

Travel cooler and warmer: Who doesn’t want cold drinks and hot food on the go? We recommend a travel cooler and warmer. It’ll hold up to twelve cans of soda and you can keep them cold with the press of a button, or keep your takeout toasty warm on the way home. It’s worth the investment!

#2: The style.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is sleek, stylish, and sportier than ever. We love the interior – it’s decked out in SofTex with a leather-trimmed steering wheel and boasts features like a power moonroof and premium instrumentation. The exterior comes in 10 bold paint colors, including four two-toned options. It also showcases LED lighting, sport styling, a rear spoiler, roof rails, and multiple alloy wheels ranging from 17-18″. This Orlando Toyota crossover sits low to the ground and has an aggressive stance.

#3: The entertainment + connectivity tech.

No matter where adventure takes you, the Orlando Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid can keep you connected and entertained. What cars last the longest

When you’re buying a new car, you want to ensure that you’re investing your money into something worthwhile – you want this car to last. Whether you trade it in once it’s paid off or drive it until you hit that million-mile mark, you want your new vehicle to be reliable, durable, and worth the investment. Toyotas definitely hit the mark, but which cars last the longest in our Orlando Toyota lineup?

To give you a better idea of why Toyotas, in general, last a long time AND answer the question of which cars last the longest, we went to iSeeCars.com. They conducted a study to see which vehicles have the highest chance of hitting 250,000 miles. More than 260 million cars sold were studied between 2012 and 2022 to see which vehicles could glide into high mileage without a problem. According to their research regarding which cars last the longest, Toyota dominated the list.

Which cars last the longest when it comes to Toyotas?

Toyota car longevity is renowned on a global level – have you ever heard of the Million Mile Tundra or Million Mile Highlander? But in case you need cold, hard facts to believe that claim, here’s what iSeeCars.com’s study turned over in their research:

  • Toyota Land Cruisers are 4.1 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota Tundras are 4.1 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota Sequoias are 4.0 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota Tacomas are 3.5 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota 4Runners are 3.5 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota Avalons are 2.8 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota Siennas are 2.0 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota Camrys are 1.7 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota Highlanders are 1.2 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle
  • Toyota Corollas are 1.3 times more likely to last 250,000+ miles than your average vehicle

As we said – Toyotas are renowned on a global scale for their ability to seamlessly drive into high mileage and stay there without a problem. If you want a car that you can count on for years to come, this is the brand for you.

High mileage, of course, can’t happen without some effort on your part. Even the most reliable Orlando Toyotas can’t hit that marker without routine car maintenance. Here are some auto service appointments you don’t want to miss if you’re going to make the most of Toyota car longevity:

  • Routine oil changes
  • Tire rotations and wheel balancing
  • Battery checks and replacements
  • Brake service
  • Tuneups
  • Belt and hose replacements as necessary
  • Coolant checks, top-offs, and flushes

And never ignore that check engine light.

new Toyota trucks

If you’ve been paying any attention at all, you saw that the 2024 Toyota Tacoma has been completely redesigned. We’re talking bumper to bumper, inside and out. Taco enthusiasts are thrilled, and the unveiling of this redesigned truck has sent the internet swirling into speculation about the new 2024 Toyota 4Runner.

The Toyota 4Runner is an absolute icon in the off-roading world – it’s durable, capable, rugged, and yet still a comfortable and connected truck that allows for comfortable real-world driving, too. It’s due for a redesign – there’s no denying that. The fifth and most recent generation has been rocking since 2009. It’s time, and we think Toyota knows it too. Our Orlando Toyota dealership is here with a 2024 Toyota 4Runner preview to share what we know so far.

Here’s our 2024 Toyota 4Runner preview

Here’s what we know about the 2024 Toyota 4Runner so far:

  • We don’t have an actual release date. We were thinking 2024, but here’s the thing – ANOTHER part of the internet is vehement that Toyota is going to bring back the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser sometime next year. We know nothing about that but if it’s true, it could push the 2024 Toyota 4Runner preview back further.
  • Production could shift to North America. Typically, the 4Runner is produced in Japan. However, we see Toyota shifting production to North America more and more, so it’s not out of the question to think that they might shift the Toyota 4Runner production here, too.
  • It may have a different engine. Right now, this Orlando Toyota has a 4.0L V6 engine. However, we’re consistently seeing Toyota downsize its engines (the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequoia went from V8s to V6s, for example). We could see the new iteration of this Orlando Toyota shifting to a new 4-cylinder with turbocharged capabilities – specifically, the turbocharged 2.4L inline-four that’s in the new Lexus NX 350. It gets 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft torque.
  • We could also see it offering a new hybrid drivetrain. We think the Hybrid Max powertrain in the current Toyota Crown is a strong contender – a 2.4L hybrid system that produces 340 horsepower and 400 lb-ft torque.
  • It’ll definitely have an updated design inside and out – we’re thinking a brand-new look that’s similar to the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma, as well as an interior that’s more ergonomic, has modern styling, and has new technology.
  • The MSRP will likely see a slight bump, but we’re willing to bet it’ll be worth it for all the upgraded tech + performance features.
  • We don’t think an EV is in the works. We haven’t seen any full EV versions of the Tacoma, Tundra, or Sequoia, so we’re doubtful one will appear in the redesign of the 2024 Toyota 4Runner.

Toyota GR Supra Lego

Have you gotten your hands on the new Toyota Supra Lego collectible yet? This toy – if you can call it that – even comes with a Lego driver that fits neatly in the front seat. Whether you’re a Lego collector, a Toyota GR Supra aficionado, or just someone who wants to brainwash their kids into liking cool cars, the Toyota Supra Lego car is for you (and don’t forget, Father’s Day is just around the corner).

Why does a Toyota Supra Lego car even exist?

Lego is all-encompassing – you can find everything from Harry Potter castles down to basic bricks and blocks for creating custom designs. Lego also houses a large collection of iconic cars in its wheel house, including autos like Land Rovers, Porsches, Peugots, Ferraris, McLarens… we could keep going, but you get the idea. The cars features in the Lego lineup are both old and new, and each one has to be iconic to be featured. We think the Orlando Toyota GR Supra fits the bill.

Did you know that there’s actually a life-size Toyota Supra Lego car in Japan? It resulted from a collaboration between Lego Japan, Legoland Japan, and Toyota Gazoo Racing to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this icon.

  • It took 2,400 hours to build, weighs 4,156 lbs, and consists of 477,305 Lego bricks.
  • Additionally, the entire thing is made of Legos except for the wheels, driver’s seat, steering wheel, gauge cluster, and badging – those are all Genuine Toyota Parts to give it a more lifelike feel. As a result of the Lego construction, this model is a bit wider than the original Toyota GR Supra.
  • This incredible Toyota Lego Supra can actually be driven, believe it or not. It has an electric drivetrain and can reach speeds of 17 mph.

It also was the spark that ignited the idea for a miniature Toyota Supra Lego car. Here are some quick facts on that:

  • You won’t need to worry about stepping on 477,305 pieces – this particular Toyota Supra Lego car only has 299 pieces.
  • It sits 1.5 inches high and is six inches long, and is 2.5 inches wide.
  • You can fit two Lego people inside – one driver, and one passenger. The car comes with a driver complete with a safety helmet, Toyota racing suit, and wrench.

What makes the Orlando Toyota GR Supra worthy of becoming a part of the Lego lineup?

But what makes the legendary Orlando Toyota GR Supra worthy of Lego honor? Here are some of the specs on the new model that we think make it live up to its hype:

  • The 2023 model has two engines options.
    • A 2.0L Twin-Scroll Single-Turbo Inline 4-Cylinder engine that gets 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft torque. This allows this new Toyota to get from 0-60 mph in 5.0 seconds flat.
    • A 3.0L Twin-Scroll Single-Turbo Inline 6-Cylinder engine that delivers 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft torque. This allows this Toyota sports car to get from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
  • Your choice of both a six-speed intelligent manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and manual mode
  • Launch Control and a direct-injection fuel system
  • A top track speed of 155 mph
  • Active rear sport differential
  • Adaptive Variable Sport Suspension
  • Brembo 4-piston fixed-caliper front disc brakes
