Big news in the world of Toyota – and also in the world of gamers, we guess. Toyota and Nintendo recently hooked up to collaborate on an all-new special concept version of the upcoming 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander and Toyota of Orlando has the details. Here’s what you can expect!

What’s with this new Toyota/Nintendo collaboration?

When you think of the 2024 Toyota Highlander, you probably think of a spacious, road-trip-ready Toyota. (And you’re right.) And what goes better with a road trip than a Nintendo Switch? This versatile gaming system is perfect for gaming on the go, which is what inspired Toyota and Nintendo to pair up for this latest concept car. This new Toyota concept was revealed at the Chicago Auto Show in early February and features a Mario Kart/Nintendo wrap on the exterior as well as a huge screen, a gaming console, and more speakers for the ultimate gaming experience.

While we won’t see the actual concept car on our lot at Toyota of Orlando anytime soon (if ever), Toyota IS giving away a Nintendo prize pack to 500 Grand Highlander customers when this new Toyota SUV hits dealerships in 2023 or 2024. Here’s the scoop:

• 500 lucky winners will receive a Nintendo Switch OLED Model System with a vibrant 7″ screen for better gaming and detachable joy-con controllers so players can game anywhere
• They’ll also receive a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game, a paid Nintendo Switch online membership, and an expansion pack membership

So not only will they be able to take home this incredible all-new Toyota Grand Highlander, but also a great way to keep the kids (or adults) occupied in the backseat.

The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander is coming to Toyota of Orlando

So, what will the non-Nintendo version of the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander have to offer when it arrives at our dealership later this year or early next year? Here’s what you can expect from this new Orlando Toyota:

A much larger interior – the third row will be large enough to seat three adults comfortably, and there will still be a spacious cargo area behind it. Overall, you can seat 8 adults without issue in the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander.

• Additionally, you’ll get features like Wi-Fi Connect, HD Radio, SiriusXM® Platinum, a JBL® Premium Audio system with 11 speakers, seven USB-C ports, and Remote Connect.
• You can rest easy with safety features like Safety Connect, Service Connect, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.

And it LOOKS amazing. The 2023 Toyota Highlander is already sleek and stylish, but the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander manages to go bigger without losing any of that. It has a sleek interior decked out with SofTex, Leather-trimmed, or Ultrasuede and leather seats with premium stitching and an exterior that’s sporty and modern.

We know there are beautiful beaches all over the country, but we decided to make it easy for you and keep things on the east coast (we know a road trip to California is no easy feat). Here are our top east coast picks to explore.

Beach #1: Destin

Destin is famous for its Gulf Coast beaches – the white sugar sand, the turquoise water, and the party atmosphere make it a top spring break destination. However, partying isn’t all it has to offer. Destin has excellent fishing for Grouper and Red Snapper offshore, so don’t forget to bring your fishing poles. Beach #2: The Golden Isles 

The Golden Isles are actually composed of four barrier islands – Jekyll Island, Sea Island, St. Simon’s Island, and Little St. Simon’s Island. Beach #3: Naples 

Naples is located in South Florida and overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, so you can expect warm, calm waters most of the year. It’s not cheap – we won’t lie – but you can experience high-end dining, shopping, and beautiful boutique hotels when you visit. Naples also has excellent spots for kayaking and paddleboarding, as well as fishing off the piers and watching sunsets over the gulf. Travel time from Orlando: 4 hours

Beach #4: Assateague Island 

Head north for a little different vibe; Assateague Island is a barrier island off the coasts of Maryland and Virginia. It’s not exactly a tropical spot, but it’s famous for a different reason – wild horses roam the beaches, giving you a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You can camp on the island, and there are great spots for swimming, sunbathing, and horseback riding on the beaches. Travel time from Orlando: 9 hours

Beach #5: Ocean City Beach 

Ocean City Beach is another out-of-state destination to explore; it’s located in Ocean City, Maryland. The beaches are wide and the sand is soft, and there’s a boardwalk along the beach to wander while you shop, eat, and play – there’s even an amusement park for thrill-seekers. Don’t miss out on the fresh crab! Travel time from Orlando: 13.5 hours (so be sure to find a halfway spot to spend the night if you don’t want to power through)

Beach #6: Sanibel Island 

Sanibel Island is another Florida beach that’s a quieter spot perfect for families and those who want to relax. It’s famed for “shelling” – collecting beautiful shells – and offers great nature trails for hiking, swimming, and even picnic spots. Travel time from Orlando: 4 hours

If you’ve been paying attention at all, you know by now that an all-new Toyota full electric vehicle is finally up for grabs at a dealership near you: the 2023 Toyota bZ4X. However, our Orlando Toyota dealership has even more news to share in the world of Toyota electric vehicles – here’s what’s been going on in this sphere as of late.

What’s new in the world of Toyota electric vehicles?

Toyota and Lexus are developing an all-new EV-only platform. It’s officially been announced that Toyota and Lexus are back at work creating an all-new platform… but this one will be solely for Toyota electric vehicles. As of right now, Toyota EVs sit on the e-TNGA platform, which is a slightly modified version of the acclaimed and existing TNGA platform. However, with this particular platform, Toyota is having a hard time matching or exceeding the efficiency of cars like Tesla. The platform also limits the size of the battery pack, which means a shorter range. A new platform means an extended range and the ability to create new prototypes of cars. It looks like this new platform will be officially in production by 2026, so we’ll keep you updated.

Toyota is rethinking its long-term EV strategy. In other Toyota news, Akio Toyoda – the CEO of Toyota – stepped down from his post in January. His replacement, Koji Sato, is a big fan of EVs and is making the push for Toyota to integrate more of them into their normal lineup. Supposedly, Toyota recently disassembled a Tesla Y model to get a better idea of the types of manufacturing techniques that the EV giant is using inside of their vehicles. (It’s a pretty common practice among automakers.) What they found may affect their design of the aforementioned new platform for Toyota full electric vehicles, and could lead to many more EV additions to the lineup.

A new bZ3 has been introduced in China. We’ve talked before about different bZ models and how Toyota’s ultimate goal is to create a bZ – Beyond Zero – umbrella with a variety of Toyota full electric vehicles under it. All we have in the US right now is the 2023 Toyota bZ4X and a new bZ SUV concept that was recently unveiled. In China, however, a new bZ3 model was recently introduced to the market. The sedan is a collaboration between Toyota and BYD (a global EV company) and it’s the second official model in the bZ lineup. The bZ3 EV is built on the e-TNGA platform but uses a lithium-ion battery, motor, and electric control system all designed and manufactured by BYD, which means a range of around 372 miles. This Toyota electric vehicle has a starting MSRP of around $27,700 USD. We don’t know that we’ll see it at Toyota of Orlando anytime soon, but we do know the bZ lineup will continue to expand and provide our customers with more Toyota full electric vehicle options.

You’ve heard of the Million Mile Tundra… but have you heard about the Million Mile Tundra? This 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid belonged to Mark Miller of Bonita Springs, Florida and last year, it celebrated its million-mile mark. Our Orlando Toyota dealership is here with the details!

How did this Toyota Hybrid make it to a million miles?

Mark Miller used his 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid primarily for work, driving across Alligator Alley (a stretch of I-75 in the Florida Everglades) routinely enough to rack up over a million miles. He described his SUV as a “workhorse” – he used it to tow trailers for his asphalt paving business, as well as a mobile office for work on the go. According to Miller, he’s taken around 8,000 trips across I-75 in his Toyota. His secret to getting it to a million miles? Routine maintenance and a reliable mechanic – and routine oil changes. No joke.

The million-mile Toyota Highlander would have probably kept right on going, but fate intervened in the form of Hurricane Ian. In 2022, Hurricane Ian roared onshore in South Florida, leaving a wake of destruction. Miller’s home in Bonita Springs was the victim of a massive amount of storm surge, and his Toyota Highlander was destroyed in the flood.

But here’s the good news – Toyota stepped in. Miller had plans to get another Toyota Highlander Hybrid as he missed his old car and its comfortable reliability. Toyota took it upon themselves to thank him for his loyalty and gifted Miller a new 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition so he could get back on the road.

So you’re shopping for a new Toyota and looking for something fuel-efficient and on the compact side. Toyota of Orlando is here to help – today we’re comparing the 2023 Toyota RAV4 to the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross.

How does the new Toyota RAV4 compare to the Corolla Cross?

There’s a lot going on in the world of compact SUVs and crossovers – for the first time, these are the most desirable options in the sea of trucks, sedans, minivans, hatchbacks, and coupes. And with good reason – gone are the bloated and inefficient days of SUVs past. Today’s SUV and crossover options are fuel-efficient (even boasting hybrid options) as well as streamlined and affordable. We’re comparing two of the most popular options – here’s how the 2023 Toyota RAV4 stands up to the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross.

Performance

• The 2023 Toyota RAV4 has three engine options to choose from – a 2.5L 4-cylinder (30 mpg), a hybrid (40 mpg), and a plug-in hybrid.
• The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross has two options – a 2.5L 4-cylinder (32 mpg)  or a hybrid (37 mpg).

No matter which way you slice it, both offer fuel-efficient options, but if you want a plug-in hybrid, you should opt for the RAV4. Here are some other performance aspects to consider:

• The RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 lbs without batting an eye. The Corolla Cross maxes out at 1,500 lbs.
• The RAV4 also has more off-roading ability than the Corolla Cross. It comes in TRD, Adventure, and Woodland Edition trims, and has a higher ground clearance in general (which is better for uneven terrain).
• The RAV4 gets more horsepower (203 vs 169) in the gas engine options than the Corolla Cross, and slightly more torque (165 lb-ft vs 151 lb-ft).

Interior

The interior of the Orlando Toyota Corolla Cross and RAV4 are pretty similar, believe it or not, and share a lot of the same technology and appearance options (we’re talking Apple CarPlay, Softex, etc.). However, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 is slightly more spacious than the Corolla Cross, as it’s larger. Both seat five and in terms of cargo space, the RAV4 offers 37.6 cubic feet while the Corolla Cross clocks in at 24 cubic feet.

Safety

In terms of safety features, again, you’ll find a lot of similar options including Toyota Safety Sense, Advanced Airbag Systems, backup cameras, Star Safety System, and more. However, when it boils down to IIHS Crash Test Scores (for 2022, not 2023 – 2023 is not available yet), the Corolla Cross is the winner. It’s an IIHS Top Safety Pick +, while the RAV4 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick (without the +).

Price

If you’re looking for the more budget-friendly option of the two, you should go for the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. It has a starting MSRP of $23,060 while the 2023 Toyota RAV4 has a starting MSRP of $27,975.

You’ll have more options in the 2023 Toyota RAV4. It comes in 16 trims, including 7 electrified options and special models like the Woodland Edition. The 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross comes in 3 gasoline grades and five hybrid grades.

You’ll get the same warranty when you buy these Orlando Toyotas – both offer a 3-year/36,000 mile basic warranty and a five-year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty. Additionally, both vehicles offer the same warranty for corrosion and restraints.

• Your new Toyota will come with ToyotaCare. This means 24 months or unlimited miles of roadside assistance, whichever comes first. Honda has a 36,000-mile cap on their mileage for roadside assistance.
• You’ll also get 1,000 more miles of no-cost maintenance (like oil changes and tire rotations) with Toyota – their maintenance plan stretches for 24 months or 25,000 miles.

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma is coming – its official unveiling will take place on May 19 (at 1:30 am, if you’re a night owl). There’s been a ton of speculation surrounding this new Toyota truck because it’s FINALLY getting a redesign. Toyota hasn’t unleashed all the details just yet, but we have gotten our hands on a few. Here’s everything we know so far about the 2024 Toyota Tacoma!

What’s been released about the 2024 Toyota Tacoma so far

It’s getting a full redesign. And it’s well-deserved – the last time the Orlando Toyota Tacoma was redesigned was way back in 2015. The fourth generation makes its big debut on May 19 and should be in a dealership near you later this year or early next year. We don’t have an official release date yet.

Looking at the teaser photos Toyota has provided, it seems like the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will take stylistic cues from the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequoia. Both of these new trucks were redesigned for a more angular and modern look on the exterior, and we think the new Tacoma will follow suit.

It’s going to have an i-Force Max option. This popular hybrid system is found in both the new Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, and offers increased horsepower and performance while improving fuel efficiency at the same time. We’re also thinking a new engine is in the works for the gas models – the Tundra and Sequoia both got turbocharged engines with their redesign, and we think the new Tacoma will follow suit.

There are going to be multiple cab + bed options. Toyota released a series of silhouette teaser photos indicating that there will likely be both crew and extended cabs, as well as a long bed option for this Orlando Toyota.

It’s getting a new body-on-frame platform – the TNGA-F platform that’s newly designed by Toyota. This means better off-road performance and handling, as well as more capable towing and a cheaper manufacturing process (which rolls into a lower price for consumers).

You’ll have a six-speed manual transmission option still, so you can stop worrying about it. (A lot of Taco enthusiasts were terrified that a new generation would include Toyota dropping the manual option). Toyota released teaser photos of the gas, brake, and clutch pedals a few weeks ago.

A new Trailhunter special edition model is getting added to the lineup. We’re expecting it to be perfect for off-roading and overlapping. From the teaser shots, it looks like there are ARB add-ons and tow hooks… and that’s just what we see in a quarter shot.

It looks like the audio system will get a major upgrade. We’re expecting a bigger touchscreen (the current one is 8″) and the new wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Toyota Connected Services to be woven into the mix. Additionally, a JBL option is likely to be up for grabs – Toyota put out a teaser that the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma will have the option of a JBL Flex speaker that can be removed from the truck and used as a portable speaker on the go.
