auto body repairs

When you get auto body repairs done on your car, are you comfortable and satisfied with the results? If you get them done at Toyota of Orlando’s body shop, you know you’re in good hands. Not only are you getting top-of-the-line auto body repairs and Genuine Toyota Parts, but you’re also getting the warranties you need to give you peace of mind. At other repair shops, however, do you have that same confidence that it’s been a job well done?

If you have your doubts, our Orlando Toyota Collision Center is here to help. You can always call us to schedule repairs, but we also had our techs put together a helpful guide on how to check auto body repairs on your own to ensure you got the results you needed.

auto body repairs

A checklist for auto body repairs

Step #1: Get a super comprehensive explanation from the start.

Before you even begin the auto body repair process on your car, be sure that you ask the mechanic for a full, detailed explanation of what they’re about to do and why they’re going to do it. It’s a good idea to ask them to type it up and print it out for you, or to at least take notes on your own so you can refer back to them and ensure all the stated repairs are actually done at the end.

Step #2: Look closely at the paint on your car.

A sure sign that you didn’t get a quality auto body repair job is mismatched paint on your car. A high-quality repair shop will only use genuine OEM paint to repair your car so it matches the current paint perfectly. Some shops, on the other hand, cut corners and use cheaper, non-manufacturer paint to save money and time. If you see mismatched paint on your car after repairs were done, who knows what other corners were cut? This is a sign that you need to have the car inspected by someone else to ensure future issues aren’t going to arise.

Step #3: Check over the frame spec printout sheet.

Ask your auto body repair shop to give you a frame spec printout. This sheet should include a detailed listing of all the repairs done on your car while it was in the shop as well as how much the frame was adjusted during the repairs. Run through it to ensure everything listed was actually done and see how it affected the rest of the car and if you’re confused, be sure to ask for explanations. And don’t be afraid to get a second opinion on it!

Step #4: Monitor your car for a while after the repairs.

You know your car – and how it drives – better than anyone else. Pay close attention to how your Orlando Toyota is handling for a few weeks after the repairs are done to ensure nothing is amiss. Look out for strange sounds, smells, and sensations, and if you notice anything wrong, take your car back to the auto body repair shop ASAP.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla is an icon in its own right. After all, this popular compact sedan has been on the market for literal decades – we’re talking since the 1960s – and hasn’t lost any momentum in terms of popularity and sales. We love the fuel efficiency, the sporty style, the compact maneuverability, and more, but one of the aspects of this Orlando Toyota that we’re most impressed with is the cabin itself. Take a closer look at the 2022 Toyota Corolla interior with Toyota of Orlando!

2022 Toyota Corolla Interior

The 2022 Toyota Corolla interior has everything you need

You would think that a small car like the Orlando Toyota Corolla wouldn’t have much to offer on the interior because it’s so… well, small. Think again! Here are the highlights.

Space: The 2022 Toyota Corolla interior is roomier than you might think. It can comfortably seat five and has trunk space of 13.1 cubic feet. On top of that, the rear seats fold flat in a 60/40 split so you can create a larger cargo area if need be. It’s also got features like automatic climate control, heated front seats, ambient lighting, and optional power-adjustable seats to ensure you’re comfortable every time you get behind the driver’s seat.

Technology: This new Toyota has an extremely economical pricepoint – a starting MSRP of just $20,425, to be exact – so it’s easy to assume it wouldn’t have much to offer in terms of technology inside the cabin. Wrong again! The 2022 Toyota Corolla interior offers high-tech features like:

  • Optional Premium Audio with Dynamic Navigation and a JBL sound system
  • Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa
  • Safety Connect, Service Connect, Remote Connect, WiFi Connect, and Destination Assist
  • Qi wireless charging for devices
  • Hands-free voice command controls on the steering wheel
  • The Smart Key System with a Push Button Start
  • Front and rear USB 2.0 ports for charging

And more.

Style: The 2022 Toyota Corolla Interior has the same sporty, stylish, youthful vibe as the exterior. It’s ergonomically laid out, of course, but also showcases edgy features like SofTex seating, metallic interior trim with chrome accents, bronze stitching, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, premium instrumentation, and a 7″ color multi-information display.

Safety: The 2022 Toyota Corolla interior also boasts top-of-the-line safety tech that you deserve to put your mind at ease, whether you or someone you love is driving. You’ll find features in this Orlando Toyota like:

  • Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 with Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, Road Sign Assist,  Lane Tracing Assist, and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

cars without oil changes

So you’re thinking about taking the plunge and parking an electric car in your driveway. Congrats! Get ready to save not only on fuel costs but also on car maintenance expenses. Electric car maintenance schedules are quite different from those of gasoline-powered vehicles, and one of the most common questions we get at Toyota of Orlando is whether or not electric cars use oil. Our auto service experts at our Toyota service center are here to explain!

cars without oil changes

Do you need to schedule oil changes for your electric car?

In short, no. Electric cars do not use oil. They’re powered by a battery and an electric motor, so they don’t use many of the conventional fluids you’d see in a vehicle – there’s simply no need for them. If you recall, traditional gasoline-powered cars use oil to keep their engines cool and lubricated so all of the moving parts can do so efficiently. Electric cars don’t have an engine; thus, the lack of need for oil or oil changes.

However, you have to be careful to differentiate here – while TRUE electric cars do not require oil, cars that are hybrids or plug-in hybrids (and may sometimes be referred to as electric or electrified) DO require oil. Plug-in hybrids and hybrids are not fully electric, so while they do have electric motors, they also have engines that require oil. So for these types of electrified vehicles, you will need to schedule routine oil changes.

What DO you need to do for an electric car if you don’t need oil changes, then? Here are the basic appointments you’ll want to make sure you schedule at Toyota of Orlando on the regular:

  • Battery maintenance and inspections
  • Brake service (namely, replacing brake pads – there is no brake fluid)
  • Transmission fluid – some electric cars still use transmission fluid so be sure to check your owner’s manual or ask one of our auto service techs
  • Tire rotations and new tires
  • Software checks – most software updates are sent over-the-air, but it doesn’t hurt to have everything checked out while you’re at the dealership getting your car maintenanced or repaired.

So yes, you will need SOME auto service for your electric car. Like anything, they’re not a zero-maintenance product. But the lack of a traditional engine, etc. will save you a bundle of money AND time in the long run. Not to mention, you won’t have to pay for fuel costs, saving you even more money, especially if you have a long commute or spend a lot of time behind the wheel every day.

driving safety tips

Another school year has arrived and back to school time is upon us! Whether you’re a student, the parent of a student who’s got chauffeur duty, or just another driver out on the road, you’re going to encounter changes to your driving landscape when back to school actually hits. There are more cars, active school zones, a ton more pedestrians, and school buses to contend with, all of which can throw a wrench into your daily commute. Toyota of Orlando is here to help – brush up on your back to school driving safety with these quick tips.

driving safety tips

Toyota of Orlando’s refresher course for driving safety during back to school

School zones: School zones are busy with cars, pedestrians, and buses and are active twice a day, five days a week. Here are some back to school driving safety tips for these areas:

  • Slow down – the speed will be lower
  • Come to complete stops at stop signs and stop lights
  • Pay attention to the road and the sidewalks, looking out for pedestrians
  • Be ready to stop at a moment’s notice in case someone walks in front of your car
  • Pay attention to road signs and watch out for crossing guards directing traffic

Pedestrians: There will be quite a few more pedestrians out and about during your commute in back to school time, especially in suburban areas and around schools. Here are some driving safety tips for this aspect:

  • Never take your hands off the wheel or your eyes off the road – don’t engage in distracted driving, and put your phone away
  • Stop fully and look both ways before pulling through stop signs
  • Always yield to pedestrians and bicyclists
  • Don’t block crosswalks while waiting at a light or stop sign

School buses: You’ll need to follow special driving safety rules when around school buses – here’s a brief summary:

  • Never follow a school bus too closely – they stop often and sometimes unexpectedly.
  • Stay out of their blind spot; if you can’t see their side mirrors, they can’t see you.
  • When the stop signs come out and flashers come on, you need to stop. You’re not allowed to pass a stopped school bus on EITHER side of the road unless there is a major median dividing the road and you’re on the other side of it.
  • You should also not pass a school bus on the right – kids may have just unloaded and could still be in the street.
  • Be ready to stop, and often.

Traffic: There’s going to be a lot more traffic on the road during back to school. Here are some driving safety tips to help you tackle your commute:

  • Leave yourself extra time until you can figure out just how much busier your route is going to be.
  • Don’t speed or drive aggressively – you’re just going to end up being in an accident.
  • Check your navigation before you leave the house to see if there are any delays on your route and if there are, look for an alternate route.
  • Think about carpooling – it’ll save time, money, and miles on your car.

new Toyota

Toyota has been up to some interesting and exciting moves for future Toyota models, and today here at Toyota of Orlando, we’re giving you the rundown on what’s coming for each Toyota model in 2023. So whether you’re looking to trade in your current car for a brand new one, or maybe you want to know the exciting news coming to the Toyota world this year. Let’s dive into it!

What’s coming for each Toyota model in 2023

Corolla Cross

new Toyota

The Corolla Cross debuted in 2022 and received a lot of praise. Well, that’s because the Subcompact SUV is the perfect mesh between the spaciousness you get from an SUV and the sporty affordability the Corolla gives its drivers. It gets even better for 2023 models with a new fifth-generation hybrid system that includes All-Wheel-Drive.

Corolla

There’s a lot of attention being given to the Corolla this 2023 model year, with the Corolla family receiving upgrades on many levels. Here are some of the new features to be expected in 2023 models:

  • Updated exterior styling front and rear with the new Toyota Audio Multimedia systems in the sedans and hatchbacks.
  • More level trims LE AWD, SE, SE AWD, and XLE.
  • The Corolla receives an electric on-demand all-wheel drive system.

GR Corolla

The GR Corolla gives Toyota fans the performance in this version of the Corolla Hatchback. The Toyota president Akio Toyoda even created his own model of the GR Corolla called the MORIZO Edition. Along with additional  Core and Circuit Edition models.

GR 86

The Toyota GR86 comes in hot with a new rear-drive GR86 sports coupe and adds a new limited-production Special Edition model for 2023. The Special Edition is painted in an exclusive Solar Shift orange exterior color. Here are some other features you can look forward to:

  • Cat-back GR performance exhaust system with black-chrome tips adds an exhausted note.
  • Black-finish GR 18-inch wheels wear Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.
  • Special black C-pillar decal and a black rear spoiler.

4Runner

2023 interior

The Toyota 4Runner isn’t getting a redesign for the 2023 model year. Still, it is getting a fortieth anniversary Special Edition Model on the SR5 Premium 4WD model with bold retro accents and bronze-finished elements.

 Exclusive features include:

  • Bronze-finished 17-inch alloy wheels.
  • Body-color “heritage” grille.
  • Bronze-colored 40th Anniversary liftgate badge.
  • Retro race-inspired with yellow, orange, and red exterior.

BZ4X

THE BZ4X is the first all-electric compact SUV on the Toyota lineup in 2023. However, we expect it to be tweaked before entering the dealership lots this year in Orlando, FL.

Camry

The Toyota Camry joins the Nightshade family with an appearance package for the 2023 model year. In addition, they get an upgrade by getting 19-inch bronze-finished wheels with black-trimmed headlights and taillights.

Highlander

The Toyota Highlander is getting an upgrade with a 265-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in the models separate from the hybrid models. The torque receives an upgrade from 263 lb-ft to 309 lb-ft. The interiors add a dual 12.3-inch display screen for the Limited and Platinum models and a relocated wireless charging pad

RAV4

The RAV4 Hybrid in Orlando, FL, is receiving a unique off-roading Woodland Edition model for 2023. It has everything you need in an adventurous ride with features including:

  • TRD off-road-tuned suspension.
  • Falken-brand all-terrain tires.
  • Flow-formed bronze-colored wheels.
  • Mudguards.
  • Black badging.
  • Roof-rack cross bars.
  • With unique Woodland Edition all-weather floor and cargo mats.

Sequoia

We are super excited about the Toyota Sequoia redesign that’s getting so many high-tech features and upgrades. It received its first redesign in 2008, so it’s groundbreaking to get its first redesign in over a decade. We are in pleasant anticipation of this model hitting our dealership this year.

Sienna

It’s the 25th Anniversary of the Toyota Sienna. In its honor, Toyota came out with a 2023 special anniversary edition with a sporty XSE trim and upgrades modeling the Limited model with exclusive interior and exterior additions. Ironically, 2525 limited edition models will be coming to dealerships for this model year and Toyota of Orlando may be one of them.

Supra

The Orlando Toyota Supras are getting a manual transmission for the 2023 model year and an upgrade in performance with an option on the 3.0 6-cylinder models, while the 2.0 4-cylinder models will be available only in an 8-speed automatic.

Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma oozes everything you want in a truck. There’s anticipation surrounding when the Tacoma will get a redesign because, let’s be honest, as much as everyone loves the Tacoma, even nice things deserve an upgrade. Unfortunately, folks will have to wait because the redesign will not be happening for 2023 models. However, the models for 2023 add SX and Chrome appearance packages for the entry-level SR5 trim level.

The SX Package:

  • Blackout trim
  • A unique bed graphic.

The Chrome Package:

  • Chrome-finished 18-inch wheels,
  • Chrome door handles,
  • Chrome TACOMA lettering on the tailgate.

Tundra

The Tundra got a complete upgrade in 2022. So, it only makes sense that the redesign would leave a lasting effect, even until 2023. However, the SR5 models are available now with an optional SX Package appearance group with features including blacked-out trim and 18-inch wheels finished in dark metallic gray.

Venza

The Orlando Toyota Venza is coming up with a new nightshade edition appearance package with blackout trim this 2023 model year.

2023 Toyota Crown

You’ve probably heard by now that the Toyota Crown, a plush sedan that’s extremely popular in Japan, is making its way stateside for 2023. It’s been much speculated upon and also highly anticipated, and our Orlando Toyota dealership finally has all of the details. Here’s everything we know so far about the redesigned 2023 Toyota Crown!

The 2023 Toyota Crown has been completely reinvented

The basics

The 2023 Toyota Crown at Toyota of Orlando will be available in three grades – the XLE, Limited, and Platinum. It will also offer two different hybrid drivetrain options and will be built on a newly developed chassis that’s based on the TNGA-K platform, making it 4″ taller than the Orlando Toyota Camry. It will still be a sedan here in the U.S., but it’ll be larger, more comfortable, and also a hell of a lot sportier than its predecessors.

Performance

The 2023 Toyota Crown will be the first Toyota sedan to offer the Hybrid MAX system (previously only found on the new Toyota Tundra). Here are some of the highlights of its performance:

  • A 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and a direct shift 6-speed automatic transmission that provides 340 HP and gets fuel efficiency of 28 MPG.
  • It offers three drive modes – Sport + (for steering, cornering, and stability), Comfort (for a smooth and peaceful drive), and Custom (for creating individual profiles for each driver based on their performance preferences).

It will also offer the traditional Toyota Hybrid System as a drivetrain option, which includes:

  • A high-efficiency 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with two electric motors that offers 236 HO and gets 38 mpg fuel efficiency.

Additionally, the 2023 Toyota Crown will offer all-wheel drive on all models, as well as performance feature options like:

  • Adaptive Variable Suspension
  • A direct-shift six-speed automatic transmission OR an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission
  • An electronically controlled braking system with Active Cornering Assist

And more.

Style and comfort

As noted, the 2023 Toyota Crown will sit four inches higher than the Toyota Camry so while it’s technically a sedan, it feels more like a sporty crossover. It also offers a variety of paint colors for the exterior including all-new bi-tone options (where the roof is a different color), in addition to multiple styles of alloy wheels and LED lighting schemes.

The cabin of this Orlando Toyota sedan takes luxury to the next level, offering fabric, SofTex or leather trim in colors like black, macadamia, and black and chestnut. Drivers will have access to heated and ventilated seats that are power-adjustable, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic moonroof. Additionally, the cabin was designed to be as quiet and peaceful as possible with elements like a high-strength platform, acoustic glass, and a sound-absorbing pad between the engine bay and cabin.

Tech and Safety

Get the best of the best in entertainment, convenience, and safety technology when you drive home the new Orlando 2023 Toyota Crown. It includes features like:

  • An all-new Toyota Audio Multimedia system with a 12.3″ touchscreen, touch and voice activation, cloud-based navigation, and a JBL Premium audio system with 11 speakers

leather car seats

Does your new Orlando Toyota have leather seats on the interior? Leather car seats are the epitome of luxury, but they do require a fair amount of care if you want to keep them in like-new condition. This is especially true in Central Florida where we see intense heat and a lot of sunshine. Toyota of Orlando’s auto maintenance experts are here with tips to help you care for your leather car seats and keep them in the best shape possible.

Learn how to care for leather car seats

Leather car seats are beautiful, but they do stain, tear, and crack if they’re not cared for. They can also acquire a coat of grime and further, bacteria if you’re not cleaning them regularly.

Tip #1: Vacuum your car first. You should always vacuum your Orlando Toyota out before trying to clean the leather parts of it. This will get rid of sand, dirt, debris, and other material that can be abrasive and cause scratches or even small tears in the leather as you clean. (Kind of like how you need to rinse your car and use a clean sponge before soaping up the exterior – sand can cause damage to paint, as well.)

Tip #2: Only use leather cleaner. Once you’ve vacuumed out your car, it’s time to clean the leather car seats. Be sure to ONLY use a cleaner that’s formulated for leather – our Toyota of Orlando parts store can help you find the right one for your vehicle. Here are a few tips for this part of the process:

  • You want to avoid cleaners with bleach or ammonia in them, both of which can damage the leather.
  • Don’t apply the cleaner directly to the seats. You should spray it onto a clean, soft microfiber cloth so the cloth gets damp, but not soaking wet.
  • You can make your own cleaner if you want to avoid commercial products. Just mix five parts warm water with one part Castile soap (it’s a vegetable oil-based soap) and put in a spray bottle.

Use the microfiber cloth to clean your seats and gently scrub any problem areas; don’t be afraid to use a little elbow grease. Don’t get the leather too wet, though. Wet leather takes a LONG time to dry and can actually get moldy if it doesn’t dry properly. You should let your seats dry thoroughly before moving on to the next step in the process.

Tip #3: Apply leather conditioner. Next, you’ll want to apply a leather conditioner to your leather car seats. This is especially critical here in Orlando with the heat and strong sun we experience almost every day. Leather conditioner will keep your car seats supple and help prevent cracking and rips, and also forms a sort of top coat to ward off stains and dirt (think of it as similar to how a car wax protects your car’s paint). Again, use a microfiber cloth to apply it to the seats and don’t apply too much; you should let the seats dry for 4-6 hours afterward so the conditioner can really soak in.

Here are a handful of other tips to keep in mind when it comes to leather car seats:

  • Don’t let stains sit – treat them immediately to prevent them from setting in and becoming impossible to remove.
  • Before you try a new leather cleaner or conditioner, do a spot check somewhere inconspicuous to make the leather doesn’t react badly.
  • Condition your leather car seats once a month as a habit to keep them in top shape.
  • Work in small sections when you clean and condition.
  • Always use clean microfiber cloths – other fabrics or materials could damage your seats.
  • Cleaning solutions and conditioners that are non-toxic or natural are your best bets; they’re less likely to cause damage to the leather.
  • Protect your car from the sun if you have leather car seats. Our Toyota of Orlando parts store recommends tinting your windows and investing in a quality sunshade for the windshield.
