Toyota introduces new compact SUV in Europe
Toyota is renowned globally for having a wide variety of drive time options. We make trucks, sedans, SUVs, hybrids, minivans, hatchbacks, coupes, sports cars, and more, giving our drivers a vast array of choices when it comes to finding the perfect new car. And one more is being added to the lineup – it was just announced that an all-new Toyota SUV is hitting the market in Europe, and Toyota of Orlando has the details.

Meet the 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross
Get ready to meet the new 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross… if you live in Europe, that is. This compact SUV won’t be available stateside, but it’s still a pretty cool vehicle that we’d like to get behind the wheel of. Here are some of the details we’ve gathered so far!
- This new Toyota crossover was supposed to be unveiled to the public at the Geneva Motor Show back in the beginning of March, but that show was postponed due to COVID-19. Toyota decided to reveal the Toyota Yaris Cross on their website last week instead to give consumers a sneak preview.
- The 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross will have the same wheelbase as the Toyota Yaris, but is more spacious thanks to a taller height, more interior space, and longer overhangs. This new Toyota also showcases the new TNGA platform.
- Should you choose to get behind the wheel, this Toyota SUV will also offer a hybrid engine option, as well as either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. It’ll have a 1.5L 3-cylinder engine under the hood and drivers will be able to choose between a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission.
- In terms of looks, this new Toyota reminds us of the Orlando Toyota C-HR. The original Toyota Yaris is sporty, compact, and fun, but this Toyota SUV showcases a sleeker and more sophisticated look. It’s more angular and aggressive, packing features like a 2-color paint scheme, edgy new headlights, brand-new taillights, and black wheel arch surrounds.
- The interior is more spacious than the Orlando Toyota Yaris, but has a similar feel in terms of design. It also offers touchscreen audio and will have both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to keep you connected at all times.

- While we won’t be seeing the 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross at Toyota of Orlando anytime soon, it’s been announced that the SUV will be up for grabs in Japan this fall (2020) while Europe will see it sometime in the middle of 2021.
Test drive the 2020 Toyota C-HR today at Toyota of Orlando
We’re bummed we won’t see the 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross arriving at our Orlando Toyota dealership anytime soon, but then we remembered – we have the Toyota C-HR. It’s our sleek, stylish, and one-of-a-kind compact SUV, and you can get behind the wheel of it today! Just give us a call to set up a test drive. Toyota of Orlando is open seven days a week at (407) 298-4500, and we’re conveniently located just off I-4 across from the Millenia Mall.
Summer is coming to the City Beautiful, which means temperatures are about to climb (they’re already in the 90s and we foresee them creeping upward in the next month or so). This intense season can do a number on your car if you’re not ready for it, but don’t worry – Toyota of Orlando is here to get you prepped and ready with seasonal car maintenance for summer today. Even if you’re spending your summer social distancing, you still need a reliable ride to get to the grocery store and other essential errands. Let us help you have a car that you can depend on, no matter how hot the weather!

Schedule these four seasonal car maintenance appointments before summer arrives
1. Schedule an oil change. Oil will keep your engine cool and lubricated no matter how hot it gets outside, and without it you’re running a big risk of serious damage and very expensive repairs. Schedule an Orlando oil change as part of your seasonal car maintenance to ensure your oil tank is full of clean oil. This way, your engine can stay cool when working hard and you have a reliable ride all summer long.
2. Have your tires rotated. Your tires take a beating in the summer. Not only is it hot out, the pavement is also extremely hot. You should schedule a tire rotation for your seasonal car maintenance so your tires wear evenly, but also have our techs inspect your tires. They can check to ensure they don’t have any issues other than normal wear and tear and that they’re inflated to the right PSI for safety and fuel efficiency.
3. Have our techs inspect your air conditioning. There’s not much worse than riding around in a car with no air conditioning. Have our techs inspect your system NOW for any flaws or issues that might prevent you from staying cool this summer. They can get you on track to a much more comfortable drive time in no time!

4. Buy new wiper blades. Summer means rain in Central Florida (contrary to what tourists think). Make sure you’re ready to complete your commute in bad weather – get a new set of wiper blades! Yours are probably worn out from the heat last summer, so get a fresh pair at our Orlando Toyota parts store. Our techs can even help you install them!
Toyota of Orlando’s DIY tips for summer car prep
And here are a few DIY things you can tackle from the comfort of your garage (or just ask our techs – they’re happy to help!):
- Check your coolant levels – make sure you take a peek at your coolant tank to ensure it’s full and ready to handle the heat.
- Inspect under the hood – be on the lookout for any cracked or worn belts and hoses that could lead to issues when faced with summer heat
- Ask our techs to check your battery – you don’t want to be stranded with a dead car if your battery isn’t ready for summer
And don’t forget to wax your car! The summer sun is intense and can damage your car’s paint over time. Get a quality wax from the Toyota of Orlando parts store and give your ride a coat of sunscreen.

Two new Toyota hybrids coming to the lineup
Going green is pretty easy nowadays. There are plenty of eco-friendly solutions for almost every problem, especially when it comes to driving. There are tons of hybrid car options on the market, including right here at Toyota of Orlando. However, the lineup is about to be expanded – two new Toyota hybrids are about to be unveiled on May 18th. Toyota hasn’t said much in regards to what these brand-new models will have to offer, but there ARE a few theories floating around the internet.

Three possible new Toyota hybrids that could be headed our way
The first rumor is that the 2021 Toyota Sienna will be available in a hybrid drivetrain. This family-friendly Orlando Toyota is already the epitome of comfort and convenience when it comes to your drive time – it offers the best safety and entertainment technology for you and your passengers and additionally tacks on features like dual power sliding doors, a spacious interior that’s easily rearranged, and a super sleek and stylish exterior that breaks the “soccer mom” mold. We’d love to see this Toyota hybrid hit the market and offer an even greener option for your day-to-day commute.
The second rumor that’s floating around involves the once-loved Toyota Venza. This popular crossover was retired in 2013 but there are whispers that it’s about to be revived as a Toyota hybrid and put back on the market. Judging from its prior models, this new Toyota would be spacious but compact (like the Orlando Toyota RAV4) and offer plenty of entertainment and convenience technology. It would also offer a comfortable interior with luxury accents and a sporty, stylish exterior. And the fuel efficiency would definitely be boosted thanks to the new hybrid drivetrain. This Toyota hybrid would likely drop in 2022.
The third and final rumor that’s making its way around the internet is that the popular Orlando Toyota Tundra will be getting a hybrid drivetrain option for drivers who need a truck with power and durability but also want to save on fuel and make their commute a bit greener. 2021 could bring a new electrified twin-turbo 3.5L V6 into the picture, which would offer upwards of 350 horsepower for some pretty impressive power.
New special edition Orlando Toyota Prius coming soon

Additionally, a new special edition Toyota Prius will be introduced in the next few weeks. The 2021 Toyota Prius 2020 Edition will celebrate 20 years of this hybrid vehicle in the US and the innovation that it’s brought to the market. Only 2,020 models will be made, so it’s a limited edition and will offer a unique exterior (available in Wind Chill Pearl or Supersonic Red with tons of blacked-out accents) and updated driver assistance technology.
Regardless, we’re thrilled to see two new Toyota hybrids headed our way. These versatile vehicles always come decked out with top technology both under the hood and inside the cabin and are an easy way to make your time on the road a lot greener. They also save money thanks to their fuel efficiency, so your fuel stops will be few and far between.
We’ll keep you posted on what’s to come, but you can also explore all of our existing Orlando Toyota hybrid options today! Shop online or call for an appointment at (407) 298-4500.
New Toyota hybrids coming to Toyota of Orlando
You probably know by now, but two brand-new Toyota hybrids are coming to Toyota of Orlando in the near future… in 2021, the Toyota Sienna will offer a much greener drive time and the once-loved Toyota Venza will be reintroduced to the market to offer you yet another hybrid solution. Toyota of Orlando has the scoop on what these 3 new Toyota hybrid options will be bringing to the table when they arrive.
2021 Toyota Venza

Do you remember the Toyota Venza? It was retired back in 2015, but during its run, it was a popular option for drivers who wanted a sleek midsize SUV that offered both fuel efficiency and the amenities of a family vehicle. Here’s what the new 2021 model will offer when it arrives at Toyota of Orlando:
- A hybrid drivetrain that’s offering Toyota Hybrid System II and advanced Electronic On-Deman All-Wheel Drive, which means it’s basically ready for anything
- A build on the TNGA-K platform, which means you’ll have superior handling and a more peaceful and quiet drive

- Several different trim-levels to choose from so you can customize your drive time, including the option of a fixed panoramic glass roof
- Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 as a standard feature for all grades, as well as Predictive Efficient Drive (PED). This special technology puts the navigation to use and analyzes your driving habits and which roads you travel to help optimize the use of your car’s hybrid battery system.
- A 12.3″ touchscreen display, 9 JBL speakers, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and more
2021 Toyota Sienna

We didn’t see this coming, but the 2021 Toyota Sienna will offer a completely new type of driving experience. For the next model year, it’s not just getting a facelift – it’ll also be going green. This Orlando Toyota hybrid will offer a hybrid drivetrain in the next iteration, and it’ll be standard across all trim-levels! Here are some more details:
- The aforementioned Toyota Hybrid System II, which means 243 horsepower and 33 mpg combined
- Standard Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 on ALL models
- A new digital rearview mirror and Driver Easy Speak, as well as an optional 1080p HD rear entertainment system
- Features designed to enhance versatility, including a kick-open rear liftgate and dual sliding doors, an onboard vacuum, a cooler box, and more
- Second-row seating that includes heated long-slide captain’s chairs and ottomans and enough seating for seven inside the cabin
- The new TNGA-K driving platform, which means your drive time will be much quieter and more comfortable
- 18 cupholders and multiple USB ports for charging throughout the cabin (the necessities)
- An optional towing hitch and Yakima accessories
We can’t wait for these new Toyota hybrids to arrive at our Orlando Toyota dealership, and we think when they arrive you’ll understand why! If you want to make your drive time that much greener, call us for details. We’ll keep you posted as to when these new Toyota hybrids will get here and schedule you a test drive as soon as they hit the lot! You can reach us seven days a week at (407) 298-4500.
Get rid of car paint damage DIY style
Is the exterior of your car looking a little worse for the wear? Whether a branch fell and scratched the hood or someone got a little too friendly with their shopping car in the parking lot, car paint damage happens. It can leave your car looking less-than-new and over time, actually lead to rust damage (which is expensive and time-consuming to fix). Toyota of Orlando is here with tips to help you combat car paint damage at home (unless you’re not feeling confident, in which case our Toyota Collision Center has got you covered!).

Toyota of Orlando’s paint for getting rid of scratches
First things first – before you actually get to work, you need to figure out how deep the scratch is and if you’re capable of handling it from home. Your car paint has several layers that give it both durability and shine, including the base body panel coat, a primer coat, clay bar wax, the actual body paint coat, and then a clear coat to protect it and give it shine. Here’s how to tell how deep that scratch actually is:
- Clear coat scratches are visible but fade when your car gets wet and then reappear when it dries.
- A body coat scratch won’t fade but actually looks white inside the scratch.
- A base body panel or primer scratch (the deepest) is gray or black in color.
Once you’ve determined what type of car paint damage you have and whether or not you feel comfortable fixing it, it’s time to gather supplies. For this DIY auto repair, you’ll need a few clean microfiber cloths, sandpaper, fine scratch polish, soapy water, and a power polisher.
Repair your car paint damage like a pro
Step 1: Clean the area where the car paint damage is with the soapy water and dry it with a microfiber cloth. This will help prevent you from polishing or rubbing sand or grit into the paint, damaging it further. Then, tape the area off. This will help you remember the exact area you should be working in.
Step 2: Begin sanding. You’ll want to be careful – our Orlando Toyota collision center recommends starting with a 3000 fine grit sandpaper (5000 will also be OK) and wrapping a dish sponge in the paper so you avoid pressure points from your fingertips showing up in your sanding. Apply soapy water to the area you’re going to sand and get started. You should use medium pressure and sand until the area has a hazy look and you can no longer see the scratch.
Step 3: Get polishing and waxing. If you can’t see the scratch anymore, then it’s time to move to the next step. Continue with a little bit of sanding – this time you want to sand around the scratch and existing sanded area to add a little feathering to the hazy area (this is what the 5000 fine grit sandpaper is for). Next, take some polish on a microfiber rag and apply it to the hazy area. This will help sand down the area further and restore shine. Finally, apply clay bar wax to the area to finish the process and get it looking like-new again.

Tips for spotting flood damage on a used car
Are you considering buying a used car? If you want peace of mind, then it’s critical that you know how to approach the shopping process. This includes taking a test drive, requesting a CarFax report and vehicle maintenance records, and actually going to see the car in person so you can do a walkaround inspection and take a close look at the interior, exterior, and under the hood. After all, this is one of the best ways to spot any issues that you might otherwise not know about… like flood damage.

When a used car is flooded, it can do serious damage to almost every element. You can have rust on unpainted metal surfaces, a moldy or mildewy interior, and damage to your electronics. However, some of the worst damage won’t be visible to the naked eye because it’ll be under the hood inside the engine and its components. Flooding can damage your engine, transmission, exhaust system, ignition, hoses and belts, and more. An easy way to find out about flood damage is to check the CarFax report – some states require that this is reported and that the car is marked as “flooded” or salvaged. However, not all states require this designation. That’s why it’s critical to know how to spot flood damage from the get-go, so you don’t have to deal with costly repairs down the road in your ownership. Toyota of Orlando is here to help you pinpoint this particular type of damage while you do your walkaround inspection – check out our checklist below!
5 signs a used car has suffered flood damage
Sign #1: Rust on unpainted metal.
Any unpainted metal that’s exposed to moisture has a chance of rusting, and this is especially true when a car is submerged. You should check the unpainted metal in places like under the seats, under the pedals, under the hood, the door handles, and the trunk. If you spot rust, it’s likely that either the car was in a flood OR it hasn’t been maintained well – either way, it’s a no-go.
Sign #2: An interior that smells moldy or musty.
If the interior of the car smells musty or moldy OR has been doused with air freshener, it’s a sign of flooding. Water will make the carpet and upholstery stink and typically a buyer who wants to hide a particular smell will overuse the air freshener.
Sign #3: Brand-new or mismatched carpet and upholstery.
Does the carpet match the interior of the car? What about the upholstery? Mismatched carpet or upholstery means it was replaced, which could mean this used car was flooded. Additionally, if the car is older and the carper or upholstery looks a lot newer, there’s a chance it was replaced due to flood damage.

Sign #4: Fogging or moisture in the headlights, instrument panel, or taillights.
Take a look at the lights and the instrument panel of the car. If you see fogging inside of them or water droplets, the car has been in a flood and likely has other damage.
Sign #5: Mud or silt inside the trunk lid or in the engine block.
If you spot mud or silt still inside of the engine or inside the trunk lid, you can bet this used car has suffered flood damage.

Toyota news for the week of June 1
Welcome to June (and here’s to a better month than May, right?)! Toyota of Orlando is here to give you the latest and greatest news in the automotive world with a roundup of Toyota headlines and the details surrounding them. From new GR models to upcoming hybrids, we’ve got all the info you need. Read on!
The latest new Toyota news updates bring updated AND new models to market
The once-retired Toyota Venza will be making its way back onto the market for 2021! Toyota is reviving this sleek crossover in a hybrid model, offering yet another go-green solution for drivers who want something a little bit more sophisticated than a hatchback.

A brand-new Toyota GR86 may be hitting the streets in the summer of 2021, offering yet another Gazoo Racing option to the world. Similarly to the GR Supra, this new Toyota 86 will have a new platform, Gazoo Racing branding and badging, and will have a Subaru twin. Additionally, it supposedly will offer 255 horsepower (which is 50 more hp than the current model) and offer a turbocharger for extra get-up-and-go.
The new generation of the Orlando Toyota Tundra is coming, and with it bringing some pretty big updates. One notable change is a brand-new twin-turbo V6 hybrid engine option to replace the current V8 engine under the hood, as well as a new chassis built on the TNGA-F platform.
The Orlando Toyota Land Cruiser may be stepping back from the world of luxury in its upcoming iterations. Rumor has it Toyota will be stripping the plush SUV of its creature comforts (within reason, of course) and streamlining it so it reverts back to more of an off-road focus. Remember, the original Toyota Land Cruiser was built for tough terrain and had none of the luxury features it showcases today.
The new Toyota 4Runner and Toyota Sequoia will be part of all-new generations come 2022 – according to rumors, both will be based on the new Toyota Tundra headed our way.
The swagger wagon (new Toyota Sienna, as most people refer to it) is getting an upgrade AND going greener for the next model that’s likely to be at Toyota of Orlando this fall. Not only will it be redesigned, but it’ll also offer new technology AND be a hybrid model only.
We’ve seen the much-loved Toyota Corolla as both a sedan and a hatchback, but if speculation is right, a new Toyota Corolla crossover could be headed our way. It would get here in the latter half of 2021, and we think this rumor might go hand-in-hand with the rumor of a new Toyota Corolla wagon. Supposedly, Toyota recently patented the name “Toyota BZ” and people think it COULD be the name that will be used for the Toyota Corolla Touring, a wagon that currently exists in other countries. We’re leaning toward a crossover, but we’ll keep you posted!
Shop for your new Toyota today
We’ve got lots of options coming our way, but we’ve also got lots of options on our lot at Toyota of Orlando! See them all in person at 3575 Vineland Road, just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall. You can also call us to learn more about our specials and inventory at (407) 298-4500.

Seasonal car care tips to stay cool all summer long
If you live in Orlando – or even if you’re just visiting – you know exactly how hot it can get in your car in a matter of minutes. Opening the door after a day at work can feel like opening an oven, and the last thing you want to do is sit in the heat during your long drive home. Toyota of Orlando is here to help! We’ve got quick car care tips from our auto service techs to help keep your car’s interior AND you cooler, all season long.

Orlando Toyota car care tips to keep you cool
Tip #1: Crank the windows down
The heat builds up in your car all day, making it oven-like when you finally open it after work. To prevent this unfortunate scenario, you can leave your windows cracked during the day to help let the hot air escape (just be mindful of the forecast – if it rains, you could be in trouble!). When you finally do get to your car at the end of the day, open all the doors for a minute or two to let the air circulate and push some of the hot air out. It also helps to roll down your windows when you hit the road and turn your A/C up to force the hot air out and get cooler air quickly circulating; once things are more tolerable, roll up your windows to trap the cool air.
Tip #2: Keep your steering wheel cool
Your steering wheel can actually feel like a hot stove when you get in the car and it’s not pleasant to try and drive while simultaneously blowing on your hands. An easy fix is to use a sunshade in your windshield (this will also help keep your car cooler and protect your entire interior from UV rays that lead to fading and cracking). You can also turn your wheel 180 degrees when you park, so when it’s time to hit the road you flip it back and use the cool part to steer. A final tip? Throw a hand towel over the wheel to protect it from the sun.
Tip #3: Choose your parking spot carefully
Your parking spot can play a big role in how cool your car stays during the day. Obviously, parking in a garage is best, but covered parking like a carport or even a spot that’s shady from trees can help prevent heat from building up inside the cabin.
Tip #4: Cope with a broken A/C
A broken A/C can make your drive time absolutely miserable. Until you can get your ride to our Orlando auto service center for repairs, there are ways to cope. A battery-powered or solar-powered fan can help circulate air and cool you off, and placing a cold, wet cloth over your A/C vent can blow some cooler air your way (just make sure your car is nice and dry before you park for the day).

The Toyota Sienna Camper Van: Would you drive it?
The Toyota Sienna is renowned in the automotive industry for being sleek, efficient, and as family-friendly as it can possibly get. It’s also incredibly versatile; this spacious minivan has a comfortable interior decked out with features like reclining rear seats, captain’s chair options, seats that fold flat and stow away, and dual power sliding doors to access it all. However, a company that specializes has taken this Orlando Toyota to an all-new level in terms of versatility.
Hit the highway in a new Toyota Sienna minivan
Camper vans are a great way to explore the country without having to navigate a large, cumbersome RV down the highway. However, even camper vans can be bigger than what you’re used to and also use more fuel than you’d like. Oasis Campervans, a company that specializes in converting minivans into camper vans, recently undertook the challenge to make the Orlando Toyota Sienna even more adaptable by converting it into a camper van capable of taking on the open road comfortably. Check out the details below!
- First things first – let’s talk about the sleeping arrangements because no one likes sleeping crumpled up in the backseat. This camper van actually offers a double memory foam mattress that lies on top of the dining/living area when it’s opened up and put to use. Talk about an upgrade.
- To keep things comfortable when you’re not sleeping, the double bed easily folds up and converts into a seating space; you can relax or use it to eat at a special pop-up swiveling table designed for that very purpose. The interior is also decked out with three storage cabinets and one storage drawer, as well as easy-t0-clean laminate flooring that’s also pleasant to look at. Marine canvas curtains to block out the light and let you get a good night’s sleep round out the cabin.
- Now let’s talk about storage. You’re probably thinking that there can’t possibly be much room for gear with everything this special Toyota Sienna already has going on inside. Think again. We already know that this Orlando Toyota has a spacious cargo area (39.1 cubic feet of space even with all seats up and occupied), but Oasis took it to another level by installing more storage cabinets, as well as a stainless steel sink. There’s enough storage for 1.5 gallons of fresh water, a refrigerator or cooler, a space for a two-burner stove, and even a countertop to work on. And it all fits neatly into the cargo hatch!
And the best news? It costs under $10k to convert your minivan (a lot cheaper than purchasing a camper van or RV for your travels) and additionally, it’s REVERSIBLE. If you decide the nomad life isn’t for you, you can restore your Toyota Sienna back to its original design.
