Don’t let your fear get the best of you when it comes to car maintenance

Scary issue #1: Flat tire.

Getting a flat tire is a big inconvenience, but it doesn’t have to be scary. First things first – take care of your tires to lessen your chances of getting a flat. Inspect your tires on a regular basis to ensure they don’t have any damage that could lead to a flat or blowout like bubbles, blisters, punctures, nails or screws, or sidewall separation. Keep your tires properly inflated to the right PSI, and get tire rotations as scheduled! Also, our Orlando auto service techs recommend keeping a spare tire, jack, and lug wrench in your trunk at all times so you’re ready to quickly change out a flat.

Scary issue #2: Car overheating.

Ugh, what a scary feeling when you see that temperature gauge rising with no end in sight. In order to prevent your car from overheating, get routine car maintenance! Our Orlando Toyota service techs can keep an eye on things under the hood and give you forewarning if your car is in danger of overheating. Check your car fluids routinely, especially coolant and oil, and carry extra coolant or water with you just in case you do overheat. Oh, and don’t drive an overheated car – you can do serious damage to your ride. Call a tow truck and get your car to our service center.

Scary issue #3: Dash lights illuminate.

We know a chill runs down your spine when you see dashboard lights illuminate. Your first step should be to look at which light comes on. If it’s the check engine light, get out and tighten your gas cap and then check again. If the light doesn’t turn off, it’s time to see a tech at our service center. The longer you ignore the light, the worse (and more expensive) the issue will get. Don’t let your fear get the best of you – schedule car maintenance to handle it head on!

Scary issue #4: Dead battery.

Be ready to reanimate your battery to avoid dealing with a dead one. You can play Dr. Frankenstein by keeping jumper cables in your trunk at all times so you’re ready to give your battery a charge if it conks out. Also, be sure to inspect your battery to ensure it’s in good condition and replace it when necessary.
