best hybrid cars

So you’re shopping for a new hybrid car. Whether you want to go greener in your drive time, cut back on fuel costs, or both, you’re in the right frame of mind if you’re looking for hybrid cars. And luckily for you, there are tons of hybrid options on the market right now, giving you plenty of opportunities to find the right new car for all of your driving needs. And here at Toyota of Orlando, we think a new Toyota hybrid is the best fit.

We’re biased, sure, but we do have facts to back us up. If you’re in the market for a hybrid car, check out these reasons we think a new Toyota hybrid is your best bet!

Why are Toyota hybrid cars the best bet?

Reason #1: Hybrid Synergy Drive. Orlando Toyota hybrids have a special technology under the hood that was developed (and is reserved for) Toyota called Hybrid Synergy Drive. This unique system uses a gasoline engine and an electric motor interchangeably, swapping them out as often as possible to give you the performance you need when you need it. They swap seamlessly and each alone can power the vehicle. Further, regenerative braking helps to ensure that the battery gets the power it needs.

Reason #2: Lower emissions. Did you know that your favorite Orlando Toyota hybrids actually are better for the environment than other hybrid makes? They’re exceptionally efficient when it comes to using gas, which means fewer emissions in general since you can use the electric motor to power the car more often. Additionally, Toyota hybrids release the smallest amount of NOx, which is an exhaust mission that’s harmful to the planet.

Reason #3: Better quality hybrids. Toyota is the frontrunner when it comes to hybrid cars – the introduction of the Orlando Toyota Prius to the market is what started the hybrid movement if you recall. The popularity of these cars has led to a boom in sales, which in turn has led to reinvestment of the profit into research and development. This allows Toyota to not only refine and improve their hybrid cars, but also develop new models AND work on electric cars and hydrogen fuel call cars as well.

Reason #4: The most options. Toyota offers the greatest number of hybrid car options – more than any other car producer. This means there’s something for everyone in our lineup. We’ve got everything from the large and family-friendly Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV down to the compact and sporty Toyota Corolla Hybrid in our lineup, and they’re all waiting for your test drive.

When shopping for a new ride, some drivers just simply aren’t satisfied with the current Toyota options on the market. They’re looking for something extremely unique, something different – maybe even something from a different era. This is typically when a classic Toyota car restoration comes into play! However, restoring a classic car can take time, money, and dedication. Our Orlando Toyota dealership is here to give you some quick tips in our beginner’s guide to classic Toyota car restoration – check it out.

A quick beginner’s guide to restoring a classic Toyota car

classic car restoration

Tip #1: Consider factors like time and money.

Restoring a classic Toyota car is definitely a lot more complex than simply walking into Toyota of Orlando and driving off in a new Camry. It requires time and money, and you should make sure you have enough of both before you try to tackle it. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Time: Restoring a car takes a fair amount of time, even if you choose to have professionals do it for you. You typically won’t be able to walk into our Orlando Toyota parts store to get the parts you need, especially if the car is vintage, which means it’ll take some time to track them down. And if you go the modern route and use current-day parts to restore your vehicle, you still have to take the time to find the right ones and ensure that they’re compatible with your ride. It could take over a year to get all of the pieces into play.
  • Money: Restoring a classic Toyota car also requires a fair amount of money invested in it. Not only will you need to track down parts, but you’ll also have to pay for a workspace and tools OR professional labor to get your car up and running again.

Tip #2: Figure out how you’re going to choose your car.

How are you going to find the right classic Toyota car to restore? Again, you can’t just waltz into our dealership and walk out with a set of keys! When searching for a vintage ride to upgrade, your best bet is the classifieds, whether online or in the newspaper. You can also look for sites that specialize in classic car sales.

Tip #3: Have the right workspace and tools ready to go.

If you’re going to tackle restoration on your own, you’ll need the right workspace AND the right tools. You’ll want a place to work that’s well-lit, dry, and big enough for you to move around in. You’ll also want certain tools on hand – for starters, you should have a car jack, screwdriver, a drill with different bits, an air hose, screwdrivers, pliers, sockets, and wrenches. If you’re really going to get into the trenches, you may want to consider having other items on hand like a welder, a blowtorch, and an engine crane and stand so you can lift the engine out of the car with ease. Make sure you know how to use all of these tools safely, though, before you get started.

The phrase “your car is due for maintenance” is enough to strike fear into the hearts of some drivers. Could a routine auto service appointment turn into major repairs once the mechanic pops the hood?

You can rest easy (and even easier if you service at Toyota of Orlando). At our car care center, we think it’s important for our customers to have a basic idea of what’s going on under the hood so they can make educated decisions about their car care. Today we’re giving you quick explanations of 10 commonly mentioned car parts. Check it out!

10 common car parts to know about

1. Camshaft: The camshaft’s job is to open and close the valves in your engine. This ensures that air and fuel make it into the engine and exhaust gases make it out. They don’t really need to be replaced regularly, but if you’re having issues with low oil, they could be damaged and need to be replaced.

2. Heater core: This key car part is used to heat the inside of your Orlando Toyota’s cabin (we know, not something we do often here in Central Florida). It’s similar to a car radiator and is located behind your car’s dashboard.

3. Power window switch: Most cars nowadays have power windows and this switch is responsible for ensuring they can go up and down. They can fail over time due to dust and debris or just heavy use in general.

4. Wiper motor: We’re always harping on you about how important it is to use your windshield wipers. This car part is responsible for ensuring you can. If it stops working, so do your wipers.

5. Axle or CV shaft: These take power from your differential to your front or rear wheels (depending on whether you have front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive). They’re encased in rubber boots which wear down over time so your mechanic may say you need new boots for them before you actually have to replace the shafts themselves.

6. Mass airflow sensor: This part reads how much air is being pulled into the engine so it can figure out how much fuel is needed to be added into the mixture, which will then be ignited to start your car.

7. Shock absorbers: These important car parts help to absorb the shock when your car is traveling over rough road so you’re more comfortable inside the cabin. They do wear out and may need to be replaced over time.

8. Ignition coil: This car part sends voltage to your spark plugs to help them ignite, which in turn creates the combustion that gets your Orlando Toyota’s engine up and running. They do wear out over time and need to be replaced to ensure your car doesn’t misfire or refuse to start.

9. Muffler: The muffler quiets your car, essentially. It helps to dull the roar of your engine so it’s quieter both inside your car’s cabin AND to the people around you on the road.

10. A/C compressor: The compressor is responsible for ensuring your car A/C works, which is crucial here in Orlando. If your A/C isn’t running properly, be sure to have this car part checked.

Do you have a car with an audio system that’s seen better days? If you’re considering driving around with your airpods in just to get your music fix, don’t – not only is that super dangerous, it’s also easy to upgrade your audio system and get it up-to-date in terms of technology. Check out our Toyota of Orlando guide to doing just that below!

How difficult is it to upgrade your car’s audio system?

Toyota of Orlando tips

Before you get started, you should know that majorly upgrading your audio system COULD require some expertise when it comes to car parts and installation. If you’re not comfortable, then you’re best scheduling an appointment with our Orlando Toyota service center to get things where they need to go. However, if you’re OK with tackling the project on your own, here are the steps you should take.

Tip #1: Plan ahead and go slowly. This is a project, and it’s likely not something you can achieve in one day to get the system you REALLY want. Plus, you don’t want to bust your budget. Decide exactly what you want out of your car’s sound system before you start buying parts. What’s most important to you? Is the quality of the sound your top priority? Do you want a different infotainment system for better convenience? Do you want to turn up the bass? Figure out what your needs are before you dive in.

Tip #2: Start with a new head unit or receiver. If you’re replacing the audio system as a whole, this is the most important part to start with. You’ll be able to upgrade your infotainment capabilities like navigation, Bluetooth, Satellite Radio, and more. This new part also ensures that your new speakers will get enough power when you hook them up.

Tip #3: Shop for speakers. You don’t want tinny old speakers hooked up to your new receiver. Count how many speakers you need – our new Orlando Toyotas range anywhere from 4 to 10 speakers – and figure out how many of them you want to actually replace for quality sound. Our tip? Start at the front where YOU sit and then move back.

What Orlando Toyota parts should you be shopping for?

Tip #4: Invest in an amplifier. New speakers mean more power will be needed to get them up and running, and you don’t want it to have a negative effect on your car’s battery. An amplifier will distribute power more efficiently. For a typical sound system, a four-channel amplifier will get the job done but if you add more speakers, you’ll want to consider an amp with additional channels.

Tip #5: Think about a subwoofer. If you want more bass,  you’re going to need one. A subwoofer is a certain type of speaker that adds a deeper sound to your audio and can even shake your car if turned up loud enough. Just remember, this is a BIG speaker and will likely need to go in your trunk, so make sure you have enough space in your Orlando Toyota.

Common auto parts questions answered

#1: What are OEM parts?

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer – for example, Toyota parts are OEM since Toyota manufactures them. These parts are made especially for specific makes and models.

#2: Where can I buy OEM parts?

Good news – you can buy OEM car parts right here at Toyota of Orlando! You can shop in person at our store or come meet with one of our parts specialists to order parts from Toyota online and have them shipped here.

#3: Can I use aftermarket car parts?

Aftermarket car parts are parts that are designed for your vehicle, but they’re not from the original manufacturer. Another company makes them and for the most part, you can use them on your car. However, you’ll want to check with one of our Orlando Toyota parts or service specialists to make sure the parts are compatible before you swipe that credit card. You should also check to ensure they aren’t going to void any warranties or lease agreements that you might have on the car.

#4: Where can I buy aftermarket parts?

Pretty much anywhere – lots of auto parts stores carry aftermarket parts if that’s what you’re after. Again, just make sure they’re compatible with your car before you plunk down your money.

#5: What about used parts – are those OK?

We’ll be frank with you – we don’t think it’s that great of an idea. Used car parts are just that; used. This means they’ve been through wear and tear already and the chances of them giving out on  you are higher than if you were to buy new parts. They may be cheaper, but if you have to replace them sooner, it’s not really a cost-effective investment. Plus, they often don’t come with warranties on them.

#6: What do I do with my old automotive parts when I’m done with them?

You can’t just throw used parts in the trash. Your best bet is to sell them to an auto parts shop, try to recycle them appropriately, or sell them for scrap metal.

Toyota of Orlando tips

Learn how to change your own car battery in an emergency

Before you get started, here are a few things you should do:

  • Find out which type of car battery your Orlando Toyota requires. Using the wrong one can cause expensive and even irreparable damage to your vehicle, so ask our Orlando Toyota parts store to give you a hand in choosing one. You can call for assistance seven days a week!
  • Check your current car battery for corrosion. Corrosion can make it difficult to detach the cables from the terminals, so you may have to clean up a little first. Usually pouring a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals or cleaning them with a baking soda and water paste will do the trick.
  • Gather supplies – you’ll need the new battery, gloves, a socket wrench, and petroleum jelly. Protective eyewear doesn’t hurt, either.

Now let’s get down to it – here are the steps to take to install your new battery DIY style. Remember, if you really get stuck, contact our Orlando Toyota service center!

  • First, you’ll turn your car off and pop the hood.
  • Next, use your socket wrench to remove the clamps that are attached to the terminals. ALWAYS do the NEGATIVE (Black, -) FIRST, followed by the POSITIVE (Red, +) last. Pull the clamps off and set them aside.
  • Pull the old battery out of its housing and set it aside. Remember, you can’t just throw a car battery in the trash – you need to dispose of it appropriately.
  • Slide the new battery into place and put petroleum jelly on the clamps. Not only will this be a great conductor, it’ll also help prevent future corrosion on the cables and terminals.
  • Next, you’ll need to reattach the clamps to the terminals. You’re going to do the OPPOSITE of what you did when you removed the cables. First, attach the POSITIVE (Red, +) , THEN attach the NEGATIVE (Black, -) to avoid doing damage to your car (or yourself).
  • Finally, close the hood and start your car! If it starts up and runs normally, you’re all set.

Do you know how to jump-start a car?

It’s a pretty essential skill. Almost all of us have been in the tight spot where our car battery conks out, we can’t get our ride up and running, and we’re stuck waiting for a tow truck. However, if you carry jumper cables and know how to jump-start a car, you’re a lot more self-sufficient. If you get your car running again, you can bring it straight to our Orlando Toyota service center to have the battery checked and if needed, switched out, instead of sitting around for hours waiting for a tow. Knowing how to jump-start a car will make your drive time safer, easier, and a lot more time- and money-efficient. We’ve got the step-by-step instructions you need right here!

Orlando auto service tips

Learn how to jump-start a car, step by step

Step #1: Buy jumper cables. You don’t want to have to depend on passerby to have them when you need to jump-start a car. Keep them in your trunk at all times.

Step #2: Before you hook up the jumper cables, ensure that the car battery is actually the problem. Our Orlando Toyota service specialists recommend checking your fuel level, checking the dashboard for any warning lights, and turning on the headlights. If the headlights glow strong and bright, your issue isn’t the battery. If they’re dim, flickering, or dead, it’s time to jump-start your ride.

Step #3: Pop the hood of your car and have the person who’s giving you a jump pull up next to you and pop theirs. Make sure the cars are close enough that the jumper cables will reach both batteries and turn both cars completely off.

Step #4: Connect one of the RED cables to the POSITIVE terminal on the working battery. Attach the other RED cable to the POSITIVE terminal on the dead battery.

Step #5: Connect one of the BLACK cables to the NEGATIVE terminal on the working battery. Attach the other BLACK cable to a metal surface on the car with the dead battery. Keep this cable as far away as possible from the battery and don’t attach it to anything in the engine bay.

Step #6: Start the working car and let it run for a few minutes, leaving your car off. After a few minutes have elapsed, start your car. Then it’s safe to remove the jumper cables in the opposite order – black then red.

Step #7: Head straight to our Orlando auto service center to have things checked out. You may have just left a light on in your car, but it’s worth having your battery and its voltage checked to ensure it’s not going to die again.

You know that feeling when you get behind the wheel, turn the key, and all you hear is dead silence? Or maybe just the clicking of the ignition. Whatever you hear, it’s not the growl of your engine coming to life so you can hit the road. Your car won’t start, but what’s the issue behind its lack of life? And what do you do now?

Reasons your car won’t start

There are a lot of possible reasons your car won’t start, but our Orlando auto service techs have taken the time to compile some of the most common ones. Here are a few reasons you may need to call a tow truck and bring your car in for some TLC:

  • Your battery is dead. If this is the case, you’ll hear a clicking noise or silence when you turn the key depending on how dead the car battery actually is. This could also be an issue with damage to your battery cables.
  • Your spark plugs aren’t up to par. If your spark plugs need to be replaced your engine may turn over, but it doesn’t have enough get-up-and-go to actually get running.
  • Your starter wires are loose or damaged. You’ll hear a clicking noise in this case.
  • Your ignition switch has gone bad. If this is your issue you should be able to turn on your headlights (as your battery is still working) but you can’t get your car started.
  • Your engine cylinders are faulty. If this is your problem, you’ll hear a knocking noise from under the hood when you turn the key.
  • You’re out of gas. Check your fuel tank indicator on the dash!

What now?

As we said, those are just a few of the reasons you may not be able to get your car up and running. There could be something else going on so it’s in your best interest to bring it to Toyota of Orlando to have it checked out. Here are a few more tips on what you should do when your car won’t start:

  • Check the battery – if you can’t turn on the headlights, your battery is most likely dead. Try tightening the battery cables and give it a shot again to see if that does the trick. You can get a jump from someone using jumper cables, but be sure to come straight to our Orlando car maintenance center. One jump won’t get you too far, especially if you have to turn your car off at any point.
  • Call a tow truck. If it’s not your battery, you don’t really have any other temporary solutions to get you where you need to go. Have the tow truck bring your ride in so our techs can pinpoint the problem and get you back on the road.

Performance and Off-Road Capability

The 2026 Toyota 4Runner really leans into its identity here! You get different drivetrain setups and a full-time four-wheel drive on certain trims, so get ready for a powerful ride! The off-road trims get an electronic locking rear differential and advanced traction control. You’ll see some serious hardware aimed for trail use (not just for the pavement), including:

  • An electronically controlled two-speed transfer case with high and low range on the 4WD models.
  • Active Traction Control aids in keeping you moving when one or more wheels start to slip.
  • Standard electronic locking rear differential on the TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter trims for equal power to both rear wheels.
  • The Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism helps drivers increase suspension articulation at the push of a button.

Then there’s Toyota’s software, which helps you go off-roading as much as its hardware. Some of the 2026 Toyota 4Runner trail-focused tech highlights are:

  • Multi-Terrain Select lets you tailor your traction settings for mud, sand, dirt, and other surfaces.
  • Crawl Control brings a steady, preset low speed to keep you moving over rough terrain (like an off-road cruise control).
  • Downhill Assist Control helps to maintain steady speed on steep or slippery descents, which is important on loose rocks or snow.
