When you’re hitting the highway in your Orlando Toyota, it’s important to follow the rules of the road. Not only do these rules keep you and other drivers safe, but if you break them you can end up with a hefty ticket (or worse). We’ve already shared our insight when it comes to road rules, defensive driving, and distracted driving, but today we’re getting a little bit weird… specifically, weird traffic laws.
Weird laws in Florida: What you should know about driving here
There are a lot of weird laws in the US across the board, but there are also some pretty weird laws in Florida when it comes to traffic and driving. Our Orlando Toyota specialists are here to break some of them down for you so we can be shocked together. Ready? Let’s go!
Law #1: It is specifically illegal to park in an intersection or at the edge of a curb.
To us, this one on the list of weird traffic laws seems pretty obvious — you wouldn’t park your new Highlander in the middle of an Orlando intersection. But if there’s a law about it, it’s pretty likely someone has done it before. (Side eye.)
Law #2: In Florida, you can get a ticket for driving too slowly, especially if you’re not keeping up with the flow of traffic.
We get it. It’s not good to speed, but it’s also not good to drive so far under the speed limit that you’re causing traffic pileups and putting other drivers at risk. Our golden rule is to just stick to the speed limit and you’ll be good.
Law #3: It is illegal to park on top of a grave in a cemetery.
Yup, even if you’re having a seance. Another super odd one in a series of weird traffic laws, but important, we guess?
Law #4: An elephant, goat, or alligator tied to a parking meter must pay the same price as a car.
So make sure next time you want to park your alligator downtown, you have a credit card or some spare change.

Weird traffic laws across America
