best cars for dogs

The best cars for dogs: Toyota edition

Are your four-legged friends one of your top priorities when you’re shopping for a car? We get it… and we also get that a JBL sound system or sporty 20″ wheels probably aren’t the features you’re looking for in that respect. Toyota of Orlando is here to help you find the best cars for dogs in our Toyota lineup. Let’s get started! Key Points: The best cars for dogs should prioritize durability, cargo space, fold-flat seats, low ride height, rear climate control, and easy-to-clean interiors to keep pets comfortable and safe. Explore features like SofTex interiors, wide-opening hatchbacks, rear cargo tie-downs, and accessories such as cargo liners, pet barriers, and portable ramps for added convenience. Top Toyota models for dog owners include the Toyota RAV4 for versatility, the Camry for easy entry and fuel efficiency, the Highlander for families with multiple pets, and the 4Runner for outdoor adventures. Pet safety is paramount; it's recommended that dogs always ride secured inside the vehicle using harnesses or crates rather than in a truck bed. Final takeaway: Toyota offers several pet-friendly vehicles that combine comfort, practicality, and safety, making them ideal for everyday travel and road trips with dogs. What Features Belong in the Best Cars for Dogs? When you’re choosing a vehicle, it’s easy to get caught up in performance specs or tech upgrades, but if you’re a pet parent, your priorities shift a bit. Comfort, safety, and convenience for your dog become just as important as fuel efficiency or horsepower. Whether you’re heading to the dog park, the vet, or taking a road trip across Florida, having one of the best cars for dogs can make all the difference in your day-to-day routine. So, what features ARE you looking for in the best cars for dogs? Here’s what our Orlando Toyota specialists think should be on your list: An interior that’s durable. We don’t recommend leather interiors if you’re going to be regularly carting your pets around . Even with seat covers, their nails can still scratch the seats. A larger cargo area. You want the space for your four-legged friends to ride comfortably if they’re in the back, as well as the space to transport one or more crates should you need to. Fold-flat rear seats. This is key if you have a smaller SUV or a sedan – folding the rear seats down will create a much larger cargo space. A low height. If you want your dogs to be able to jump into the car themselves, it’s important to find one that’s lower to the ground, especially if you have larger dogs that you’re not able to lift. These core features are important, sure, but they also directly impact your dog’s safety and stress levels while riding in the car. Dogs that feel cramped or stressed during travel get anxious more easily, which can make even short trips less-than-fun. Choosing one of the best cars for dogs helps ensure your four-legged friends has enough room to relax. More Features to Consider in Your Next Orlando Toyota And here are a few other features you might want to consider when shopping at Toyota of Orlando for the best cars for dogs: A SofTex interior that’s durable and easy to wipe clean (vacuuming dog fur out of fabric seats is less than fun, trust us) If you opt for a fabric interior, one that’s the same color as your pet’s fur so you can go longer in between car detailings A rear cargo door that’s a hatchback OR opens wide enough to let you load your pets Rear-zone climate control so you can keep your pets comfortable no matter the weather outside Tie-down points in the rear cargo area where you can secure your pets’ crate while the car is in motion Car Accessories for Your Pets You might also want to think about accessories for your four-legged friends. Things like pet barriers, cargo liners, and seat protectors can go a long way in keeping your car clean AND your dog safe. When it comes to the best cars for dogs, you might also want to invest in portable ramps for older dogs that have trouble climbing in, or collapsible water bowls for longer stretches on the road. Another pro tip? Take into consideration how easy it’ll be to clean your car in general. Dogs bring in dirt, sand, fur, and sometimes even water after a good swim. Orlando Toyotas with fewer crevices, more durable floor mats, and easy-to-clean surfaces can save you a lot of time and energy. Which of Our New Orlando Toyotas Is Best for Dogs? So, which new Toyotas at Toyota of Orlando meet the bill? Here are our top picks when it comes to the best cars for dogs. The Toyota RAV4. This spacious and fuel-efficient Orlando Toyota SUV is perfect for pets. It has a larger cargo hold, fold-down second-row seats, and dual-zone climate control with rear-seat vents. The new Toyota RAV4 is one of the most versatile options when it comes to the best cars for dogs. It’s not too large to handle daily commuting, but still offers plenty of room for your pup to stretch out. Plus, its ride height makes it easier for dogs to hop in and out compared to larger SUVs. The Toyota Camry. You might wonder how a sedan can possibly be one of the best cars for dogs, but this new Toyota fits the bill. It has a low height for easy entry, available SofTex interior, and fold-flat rear seats so you can expand your rear cargo space if need be. Sedans like the Orlando Toyota Camry are great for pet owners who don’t necessarily need a full SUV but still want comfort and efficiency. It’s also a great choice if your dog likes riding in the back seat instead of the cargo area. And with excellent fuel economy, it’s ideal for frequent trips with your furry companion. The Toyota Highlander. If you’re hauling the family around + four-legged friends, the Highlander is a great option. You can fold the third row down for extra-large cargo space and still have the second row for human passengers. It also has three-zone climate control so no matter where your pets are sitting, they’ll be comfortable. The Highlander really shines when you have multiple dogs or a mix of passengers and pets. It’s one of the best cars for dogs if you need flexibility. Whether you’re loading up crates, dog beds, or travel gear, the Highlander gives you room to do it all without sacrificing passenger comfort. The Toyota 4Runner. If adventure is the name of your game, you and your pet need to get behind the wheel of the Toyota 4Runner. It’s off-road-ready for you and has a large rear cargo space for your furry friends. You’ll also find features like an available SofTex interior, all-weather floor mats for muddy paws, and a sliding rear cargo deck for easy loading and unloading. For pet owners who love the outdoors, the 4Runner is easily one of the best cars for dogs. Whether you’re heading to hiking trails, beaches, or camping spots, this SUV is built to handle it all. Dogs that love adventure will appreciate the extra space and durability this model provides. And remember, you should never put your dog – or any other pet – in the bed of a pickup truck. Stay Safe When Driving With Your Pets Safety should always come first when traveling with pets. Keeping your dog inside the vehicle, properly secured, helps protect them in case of an accident. Many pet owners looking for the best cars for dogs also choose to use seatbelt harnesses or crates for extra safety. What can I do to make traveling with pets easier? Traveling with pets is easier when you plan ahead with essentials like a pet seat cover, portable water bowl, leash, and favorite toys to keep them comfortable. Toyota SUVs like the RAV4, Highlander, and Grand Highlander also offer spacious interiors and available rear climate controls to help pets stay relaxed during longer drive 2. Which Toyotas have the most cargo space? Toyota models with the most cargo space include the Grand Highlander, Sequoia, and Sienna, making them great options for families, pets, and road trips. These vehicles offer flexible seating and large storage areas that make it easy to pack pet carriers, luggage, and travel gear. 3. How can I protect my Toyota from pets? You can protect your Toyota from pets by using seat covers, cargo liners, pet barriers, and all-weather floor mats to reduce scratches, fur, and messes. Regular cleaning and grooming your pets before trips can also help keep your interior looking fresh and well-maintained.

best beaches in Florida

Take a road trip to one of these best US beaches

Spring is in the air and we don't know about you, but we're ready to hit the beach and make the most of it. We have incredible beaches right here in Central Florida, but it's also exciting to take a road trip to explore new shorelines. Our Orlando Toyota dealership has come up with a list of road-trip-worthy beaches for your next vacation - happy travels, and don't forget your sunscreen! Some of the best beaches for road trips this year We know there are beautiful beaches all over the country, but we decided to make it easy for you and keep things on the east coast (we know a road trip to California is no easy feat). Here are our top east coast picks to explore. Beach #1: Destin Destin is famous for its Gulf Coast beaches - the white sugar sand, the turquoise water, and the party atmosphere make it a top spring break destination. However, partying isn't all it has to offer. Destin has excellent fishing for Grouper and Red Snapper offshore, so don't forget to bring your fishing poles. Plus, there's a wide sandbar that's only accessible by boat for a more secluded hangout spot. Travel time from Orlando: 6 hours Beach #2: The Golden Isles The Golden Isles are actually composed of four barrier islands - Jekyll Island, Sea Island, St. Simon's Island, and Little St. Simon's Island. Jekyll Island is renowned for Driftwood Beach, where giant driftwood has washed up and covers the shoreline for a perfect picture opportunity. The Golden Isles beaches are also famous for their miles of uninterrupted shoreline for walking and biking, as well as quaint houses and shops. Travel time from Orlando: 4.5 hours Beach #3: Naples Naples is located in South Florida and overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, so you can expect warm, calm waters most of the year. It's not cheap - we won't lie - but you can experience high-end dining, shopping, and beautiful boutique hotels when you visit. Naples also has excellent spots for kayaking and paddleboarding, as well as fishing off the piers and watching sunsets over the gulf. Travel time from Orlando: 4 hours Beach #4: Assateague Island Head north for a little different vibe; Assateague Island is a barrier island off the coasts of Maryland and Virginia. It's not exactly a tropical spot, but it's famous for a different reason - wild horses roam the beaches, giving you a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You can camp on the island, and there are great spots for swimming, sunbathing, and horseback riding on the beaches. Travel time from Orlando: 9 hours Beach #5: Ocean City Beach Ocean City Beach is another out-of-state destination to explore; it's located in Ocean City, Maryland. The beaches are wide and the sand is soft, and there's a boardwalk along the beach to wander while you shop, eat, and play - there's even an amusement park for thrill-seekers. Don't miss out on the fresh crab! Travel time from Orlando: 13.5 hours (so be sure to find a halfway spot to spend the night if you don't want to power through) Beach #6: Sanibel Island Sanibel Island is another Florida beach that's a quieter spot perfect for families and those who want to relax. It's famed for "shelling" - collecting beautiful shells - and offers great nature trails for hiking, swimming, and even picnic spots. off road accessories

8 off road and overlanding accessories to have for your Toyota

Are you the type of driver who likes to get off the beaten path and explore? If so, then you know getting off road can be a little inconvenient if you're not prepared. Toyota of Orlando is here to help you choose the best off road and overlanding accessories to ensure you're ready for your time off the pavement. Check it out! Our top choices for overlanding and off road accessories RotopaX: When you're a good deal away from civilization, it's not easy to find a gas station. The farther you go, the smarter it is to carry extra gasoline with you. This is where RotopaX gas and water containers come in handy - they're slim and can be attached to the side of your vehicle, making them an easy way to bring gas and water along for the ride. ARB Rooftop Tent: You don't want to sleep on the ground in Florida if you can help it - trust us. (And the roaches, and snakes, and spiders, and we can keep going if you want us to.) An ARB rooftop tent is a great way to get a good night's sleep off the ground, and you can quickly pack it down and leave without much work when it's time to hit the trail again. ARB Air Compressor: When you're going off the pavement, it's smart to air down your tires for better traction on uneven or slippery surfaces. However, it's also smart to air them back up to the proper PSI before you hit the pavement. If you're not near a gas station or air pump, however, it can be difficult. This is where an ARB air compressor can come in handy - use it to air up your tires or fill up a flat on the go. MaxTrax Recovery Boards: Getting stuck on the trails is a big possibility in Florida (hello, sugar sand). Having MaxTrax recovery boards with you is a surefire way to ensure you don't have to be pulled out. They slip under your tires to give you traction when it's not there and get you out of a sticky situation. Plus, you can easily stow them on top or inside your truck bed. Yeti Tundra 65 Cooler: Getting off road and away from civilization also means getting away from electricity... but you still need a way to keep things cool. We're big fans of Yeti coolers in these situations. They keep ice frozen for days, keeping all of your food and drinks as cold as possible for as long as possible. They cost a bit up front, but trust us - they're worth it. Nomadix Towel: Towels definitely come in handy on the off road trail for showering, swimming, and drying things off when the morning dew settles, but they also don't dry very well when you're on the go. Nomadix towels dry quickly and don't smell, making them perfect for the trail. Jetboil Camp Stove: You don't have to give up the comforts of home when you're off road. Make hot food, coffee, and boil water for cleaning with a Jetboil Camp Stove. Bonus points for the fact that it packs down super small for storage. Solar String Lights: Keep your campsite lit up without electricity - invest in a set of solar string lights to hang up and take down quickly so you have much-needed light at night. New Year's Resolutions

Six New Year's Resolutions to make for your drive time

It's a new year and a new you - so why not make it a new drive time? January is the perfect time to clean up your driving habits, get back on track with defensive driving, and make your commute as pleasant as possible, especially after the mad dash and insane traffic of the holidays. Toyota of Orlando is here with six new year's resolutions to make for your drive time! Make these new year's resolutions to improve your commute #1: Check traffic before you leave the house. Get into the habit of checking traffic BEFORE you leave the house (rather than just running into it while you're out on the road). Use Waze or similar apps to see your estimated drive time and if necessary, which other routes are available. This can save you stress and time; you can leave a little bit earlier or take a different route to get where you're going. This can help you arrive on time AND safely. #2: Stop speeding, tailgating, and driving aggressively. This new year's resolution ties right into what we mentioned above - don't give into the temptation to speed, tailgate, and drive aggressively because you're running late or impatient. All of these behaviors drastically increase your chances of getting into a car accident and if that happens, not only will you have a collision on your hands, but you still won't make it on time. #3: Address those dashboard lights that have been on for a while. Have you had dashboard lights on for a while that you've been steadfastly ignoring? We get it... but stop. Bring your car into our Orlando Toyota auto service center and let our techs get to the bottom of why the lights have turned on. Ignoring those lights will only lead to bigger, more expensive issues in the future. You're welcome! #4: Do a weekly walkaround of your vehicle to troubleshoot. Make a new year's resolution to walk around your vehicle every week to look for issues. It won't take more than a minute or two - literally, just walk around your car and check things over to make sure there aren't any issues. Do the same on the interior and stay mindful of odd smells and noises, too. This can save you time and money because you can nip small problems in the bud before they become big, expensive issues. #5: Buckle up every single time you get in the car. You should also make it a habit to buckle your seatbelt every single time you climb into the car, regardless of where you're sitting or whether or not you're driving. Not only will this keep you infinitely safer on the road, but it also sets a good example and teaches good habits to younger passengers in your Orlando Toyota. #6: Use a sunshade and tint to protect your car's interior all summer. Orlando summers can be brutal, and we don't just mean on you. Heat and bright sunlight can take a real toll on your vehicle, too. Tint your car's windows to protect the interior from UV rays and keep things cooler so you can avoid damage, and put a sunshade up on your windshield every day to further protect your Orlando Toyota. Let Toyota of Orlando help you start the new year right Need some help making your new year's resolutions happen? We've got you covered. holiday road trip

Five Hallmark-movie-worthy road trips to take this holiday season

It's the most wonderful time of the year... to hit the highway and see the sights. The holiday season is the perfect time of year to take a beautiful scenic drive and make the most of the winter season. But where to go? Toyota of Orlando has suggestions. Check out these U.S. five road trips we think are worthy of a Hallmark movie. Five road trips to take this holiday season #1: Burlington, Vermont to Jackson, New Hampshire Head north to Vermont if you want to have a white Christmas road trip - you're sure to see snow in this winter wonderland. The drive is through the White Mountains, which means picturesque landscapes and red-covered bridges. If you want to stretch your legs, stop in Bretton Woods to take a sleigh ride, ice skate, or go snow tubing; you can also break out your winter sports gear and take on one of their downhill runs. Get back on the road to finish the drive in Jackson - it's one of America's most inherently "Christmas" towns. You can break out the skis again or if you want to relax, take the Annual Journey to the North Pole (and the kids can see Santa and his elves). #2: Seattle to Leavenworth, Washington If you're on the West Coast, check out this scenic drive for your next holiday road trip. You'll head across the Cascade Mountains and stunning winter scenery and end up in the Bavarian village of Leavenworth. It has a Christmas Lighting Festival with millions of dazzling lights, old-fashioned caroling, appearances by St. Nikolas, and a Christkindlmarkt where you can purchase all sorts of handmade goods and delicious holiday treats. There are even handbell concerts to get you into the holiday spirit. #3: Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway Start your trip in the quirky, beautiful city of Asheville to enjoy incredible holiday light displays and decorations, as well as the unbelievable Biltmore Estate - it's the largest privately-owned home in the U.S. and has an evening candlelight tour with more than 50 Christmas trees. Then you can take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway north or south and see beautiful winter mountain scenery for the road trip portion of your holiday adventure. #4: Phoenix to the Grand Canyon, Arizona Ready to get some hiking in? You may scoff at the thought of the desert giving Christmas vibes, but Phoenix does it right with its Tumbleweed Tree tradition, a Christmas parade, and a special lighting ceremony. Once you're done soaking in all things Christmas, head north to the Grand Canyon (and trust us, Sedona is worth a stop on the way) to get your fill of winter weather, a bit of snow, and some incredible views. As a bonus, it's not high tourist season so you won't have too much company. If you're into hiking, there are plenty of places both at the Grand Canyon and along the way to explore. #5: Key Largo to Key West, Florida You didn't think we'd leave Florida off the list, did you? We may not have snow, but some people want to get AWAY from winter weather to make the most of the holidays. Soak up the sunshine and mild warm weather as you make your way to America's southernmost point, Key West. You'll see palm trees decked in Christmas lights, a harbor full of decorated boats along the historic waterfront, and historic inns and bed-and-breakfasts trimmed in holiday cheer. Plus, there are a ton of holiday events to check out to get into the spirit. You may not see snow or ice, but you can feast your eyes upon an ocean sunset from a sailboat. best live Christmas trees in Orlando

How to choose the best live Christmas tree in Orlando

Christmas is on its way and it's definitely time to trim the tree... so have you gotten yours yet? If not, Toyota of Orlando is here with tips on how to choose the best live Christmas tree and where to find it. Check out this quick guide and don't forget, we've also got tips on how to safely transport your Christmas tree home. Tips for choosing the best live Christmas tree There's nothing quite like a live Christmas tree - the smell and feel of it are pretty much unmatchable. However, if you're going to shell out the money you should definitely get the most bang for your buck. Here are some tips on how to choose the best live Christmas tree. Tip #1: Know which type of tree you want. There are three main types: Spruce, Fir, and Pine. Spruce are dense trees that have a natural cone shape and strong branches (so you can fill them up with ornaments). Fir trees have flat, waxy needles and long, dense branches. These are also the trees that have that notorious Christmas fragrance. Pine trees are a bit different looking; they have long, thin needles with strong branches; these trees also retain their needles pretty well, so less cleanup for you. Tip #2: Know what to look for when shopping for your Christmas tree. Here are a few pointers: Look for a tree that has a full, symmetrical shape without any bald patches - spin the tree so you can see all the way around it. You shouldn't be able to see the trunk of the tree through the branches. Also make sure the color is uniform throughout, and that the tree smells good. Try bending a few branches. They should have a natural springiness to them; if they snap, the tree is dry. Give the Christmas tree a shake - a few needles falling off here and there is no big deal, but if you see a shower of needles it's a sign the tree is dried out and not going to last long. Tip #3: Cut a disc off the bottom. When a Christmas tree is cut down, it forms a layer of sap across the bottom of the trunk. You'll need to cut (or have someone cut) a sliver off the bottom of the tree trunk, about 1/2" thick, so water can be pulled into the tree once you put it in the stand. If your tree can't pull water into its vascular system, it will quickly dry out and become a fire hazard. Tip #4: Know how you're going to get it home. If you have a truck bed, awesome. Otherwise, you'll need bungee cords or ties to strap the tree to the top of the car, as well as a blanket or pad to protect the roof of your car from the tree. A few more tips: when you get home, immediately give your tree water so it doesn't dry out. Additionally, make sure it always has water until you're ready to take it out of the house to give it a longer life. Where to find the best Christmas trees in Orlando So where can you find the best Christmas trees in Orlando? Here are a few places we recommend: Kelly's Christmas Trees Happ's Christmas Trees Home Depot Severts Christmas Tree Farm Long and Scott Farms Lowe's Razzanis Fresh Cut Christmas Trees Happy hunting, and merry Christmas from our Orlando Toyota dealership family to yours!

It’s most definitely one of the most popular destinations for trick or treating in Orlando. It’s conveniently located just minutes away from downtown Orlando, and it boasts beautiful homes, walkable streets, and legendary Halloween spirit. The entire neighborhood is excellent for candy collecting, but you don’t want to miss New Broad Street. On this main drag, residents showcase their elaborate Halloween decor, inflatables, haunted houses, and more. Plus, many residents hand out full-sized candy bars (remember we talked about maximizing that candy haul?). You might also see treat stations, themed Halloween displays, and food trucks throughout the neighborhood. Safety wise, it’s well-lit and the sidewalks are wide, which makes it an excellent choice for families, especially if you have young kids or strollers. Pro tip? It’s a truly family-oriented community, and it features highlights like: Well-maintained sidewalks Excellent street lighting Safe pedestrian areas Plenty of homes handing out candy and treats Creative decorations A lot of residents go all out - they put up decorations weeks ahead of time to make sure they create memorable experiences for everyone. There’s also a strong turnout for trick or treating in Orlando here because so many families already live in the area. It’s definitely a top spot if you want a safe spot to let your littles experience Halloween magic. #5: Winter Garden Winter Garden is a little bit outside Orlando, but an easy jump down 429 or the Turnpike. Halloween Safety Tips for Trick or Treating in Orlando So how can you stay safe when you’re trick or treating in Orlando? Our team has put together some expert tips to keep you and your little ghosties safe all night long. Wear reflective materials A lot of costumes on Halloween are dark in color, which can make it difficult for drivers to see you and your spooky crew. Add reflective tape, glow sticks, or flashing accessories to make yourselves more visible after sunset. Stay on the sidewalks Whenever possible, use sidewalks and designated crosswalks. Avoid cutting across yards or crossing streets in the middle of the block. Travel in groups Children should always trick-or-treat with adults or responsible older teens, and there’s safety in numbers. Large groups are easier for drivers to spot when they’re crossing. Don’t trick-or-treat alone! Inspect candy before eating Check your candy before you dig into it. Don’t eat candy that’s unwrapped (even partially), torn, punctured, or looks like it’s been tampered with in any way. If it looks odd or suspicious, toss it. Put phones away Distracted walking can be just as deadly as distracted driving. Keep your phone away and be aware of your surroundings at all times, even on sidewalks. Drive extra carefully If you have to drive to get to your spooky celebration on Halloween night, be sure to do so carefully. Drive slow in residential neighborhoods and scan the road for trick-or-treaters crossing, especially at crosswalks. Be sure to come to a complete stop at stop signs and red lights, and use your headlights and turn signals. Happy Halloween from Toyota of Orlando From our Toyota of Orlando family to yours, we wish you a fun, safe, and candy-filled Halloween 2026. When all is said and done, this Orlando Toyota comes in ten different colors. Here's the breakdown of what's available for 2023 Toyota Sienna colors. Celestial Silver Metallic: This color is a shimmery silver metallic that's anything but basic. Ice Cap: Ice Cap is a stark white that looks sharp and crisp, and lends a nice contrast to the wheels and badging. Windchill Pearl: If you're aiming for a white Toyota but want a little something extra, Windchill Pearl is your go-to. It's a rich, pearlescent white that's immensely popular on pretty much every Toyota model out there. Cement: Cement is a cool and edgy gray that's free of shimmer for something classic but at the same time, standout. Predawn Gray Mica: This eye-catching gray is darker than cement and offers a dimensional appearance thanks to the mica in the paint. Midnight Black Metallic: Have you ever seen a Midnight Black Metallic Toyota in the sun? You'll thank us later - it's a classic black that comes to life when illuminated due to the shimmery metal flakes in the paint. Ruby Flare Pearl: Red looks amazing on any vehicle, but this particular shade of red is an eye-catching option. Microscopic ceramic particles in the paint give it a multidimensional finish that stands out in the sun. Sunset Bronze Mica: This unique hue stands far apart from the silvers, whites, and blacks you so commonly see on cars - it's a richly hued bronze with a mica finish that turns heads. Cypress: When was the last time you saw a green car? Green wasn't popular for some time, but we think it's on the up and up with this new hue in the lineup. Cypress is a rich green color that's reminiscent of an evergreen forest. Blueprint: You can't have a full lineup without shades of blue, and Blueprint is front and center. This royal blue pushes other navy-like colors out of the way and commands attention with its dynamic hue. And let's not forget the interior, either. It's full-blown spooky season and the weather has finally turned, so it's the perfect time to be out and about looking for haunted happenings. Toyota of Orlando is here with a list of haunted spots in downtown Orlando for you to hit this weekend - don't forget your flashlights. Twelve haunted places in downtown Orlando where you can ghost hunt Hamburger Mary’s: This popular restaurant is home to the ghost of a little girl from the 1800s. She’s known to tap on the windows, wave at customers, and skip up and down the street. Greenwood Cemetery: This is one of the oldest places in Orlando and houses some of Orlando’s most prominent former residents, like Mayor Bob Carr and Joseph Bumby. Visitors report everything from ghostly children playing with flashlights to Confederate soldiers roaming the fields. Orange County Regional History Center: This used to be an Orlando courthouse. Serial killer Ted Bundy was convicted here for the murder of Kimberly Leach and rumor has it he never left and can be seen in the corridors. Visitors can see where Bundy carved his name into the desk where he sat during the trial and report apparitions and objects moving on their own. Lake Lucerne: Locals report seeing a mysterious woman in white who appears after dark under an old oak tree and then disappears. Lake Eola: Lake Eola is reportedly haunted by a furry friend - a friendly, small, brown terrier runs and plays on the lake's eastern shore before disappearing. Elijah Hand Building: This building used to be a funeral home back in the 1800s, and apparently business was so good that Elijah Hand had to start storing bodies upstairs in his furniture store. People report objects being thrown and a spooky Lady in White sighting. Rogers Building: This building used to be a gentleman’s club - it was named after Gordon Rogers, and he and his wife apparently liked it so much they decided to hang around. Their spirits can be seen in the second-floor windows and first-floor art gallery. The intersection of Wall Street and Court Avenue: A jail used to be located here, and employees from the old Kit Kat Club said bottles would fly off shelves and a female apparition in all black could be seen on the rear staircase. Ceviche: This popular restaurant used to be both a hotel and a church throughout its history. Visitors report seeing a 19th-century woman standing in front of a mirror and a priest outside the building, and feeling hands pulling at their clothes. The Kress Building: Now home to Kres Chophouse, this building is considered one of the best hotspots for paranormal activity. Visitors and employees recount ghostly apparitions, mysterious footsteps, and more. (Formerly) Floor and Decor in Colonial Plaza: This building was part of a large mall shopping plaza in the 1970s. The mall was torn down in the 1990s, but a construction worker walking through the building heard voices telling him not to “tear down their home”. Oddly enough, the building still stands today, but not many tenants stay long. Orlando Executive Airport: This used to be an Orlando army base and housed almost 750 German prisoners during World War II. Travelers in the airport sometimes hear foreign speech at night. From our Orlando Toyota family to yours, happy haunting and happy Halloween!

benefits of electric cars

The benefits of electric cars

When it comes to electric cars, they're certainly not for everyone. For some drivers, a hybrid or plug-in hybrid is a better option based on their lifestyle and driving habits. However, for the right drivers, the benefits of electric cars can make a big difference both in their day-to-day commute and in their long-term ownership. Toyota of Orlando is here to explain the benefits of electric cars so you can decide if it's time for you to take the plunge. The main benefits of electric cars 1. Lower "fuel" costs. It can be cheaper to drive an electric car than a gasoline car because "fuel" costs are cheaper. Gas is expensive right now, and depending on where you live and how you charge, it may be cheaper to go electric and use electricity as your fuel. Here are a few things to keep in mind: Charging at home is a lot cheaper than charging at a public charging station (and more convenient, especially if you do it overnight) Your fuel costs will depend on how much electricity is where you live and how much your bill goes up, so do your research before you buy It can be cheaper to charge your car overnight when there's less demand for electricity 2. Less maintenance. Another benefit of electric cars is that there's a lot less maintenance that needs to be taken care of. You won't need oil changes, spark plugs, tune-ups, transmission service, fuel pump repairs, fuel injection system service, etc. because there's no internal combustion taking place. Electric cars have fewer parts under the hood, so your maintenance costs should be about half of what you'd pay for a gasoline-powered Orlando Toyota. 3. May offer a cleaner driving solution. There's a lot of debate about whether or not electric cars are better for the environment. In some ways (local emissions) they are, and in some ways (non-local emissions and battery production), they aren't. Do research to see where your electricity is coming from and what it's fueled by, and this should help you decide if your new Orlando Toyota EV is as clean as you'd like it to be. 4. Quiet. Electric cars are much quieter inside the cabin. There's no noisy internal combustion engine to contend with, so it's a peaceful driving experience every time you get behind the wheel. Same goes for hybrids and plug-in hybrids! 5. Tax breaks. Did you know that you may qualify for tax breaks if you drive an electric Toyota? Check state and federal laws to see which tax breaks are available for you, or ask your accountant to look into them to see what savings you're eligible for. Let Toyota of Orlando help you decide if the benefits of electric cars are enough for you to make the switch Obviously, there are benefits to driving an electric car. However, as we said, it's not for everyone. If you're unsure, why not let our Toyota of Orlando sales associates help you figure it out? They can help you decide between a gas car, a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, and a true electric car to get you the best new Toyota for your drive time needs. how to get spiders out of your car

Toyota of Orlando explains how to get spiders out of your car

Do you have an unwanted eight-legged passenger in your car? Florida is a beautiful place to live, but we also have tons - TONS - of spiders here. In fact, our state is known to have some of the largest and also most venomous spiders in North America. And when one gets into your car, it can be incredibly unnerving. Toyota of Orlando is here to explain how to get spiders out of your car AND how to keep them out long-term. How do spiders get in your car? Basically, through any open crack or crevice. Spiders can come in through open windows and doors, through the cracks in your hood, and even through worn seals on your doors. They like to hide in your vehicle because it offers warm, dark, damp places for them to set up shop. However, they don't like the vibrations that cars make when in motion, so this is why they usually make a surprise guest appearance at the worst possible moment. Steps to take to get spiders out of your car If you find that you have a spider - or multiple spiders - taking up residence in your car, you need to take action fast. After all, you don't want them to lay eggs in your vehicle, which can lead to further infestation. Here are some quick tips on how to get rid of spiders in your car: Clean it out. You'll want to thoroughly vacuum out your car and wipe it. When you have crumbs and debris in your car, it attracts bugs like roaches, beetles, and ants. These bugs, in turn, attract spiders, who are predators. The cleaner your car is, the less likely bugs - and subsequently, spiders - will want to call it home. Also, you want to get any eggs or egg sacs (we know, disgusting) that your new passengers may have left behind. Try spider traps. Just like when you have roaches in your car, you can use spider traps to trap and remove spiders from your Orlando Toyota. The traps are sticky and often emit pheromones that attract the spiders. You can also try spider repellant spray, spraying it into hiding spaces where they may be lurking. If all else fails, there are chlorine spider bombs that you can set off within your vehicle that will kill the spiders living in it. If all else fails, contact professional exterminators to help you remove the spiders from your car. You don't want to let the issue go - spiders can lay eggs and quickly grow their population, leading to a serious infestation. How to prevent spiders in your car Additionally, there are easy ways to keep spiders out of your car. Here are some more tips from the experts at our Toyota of Orlando service center: Keep your car clean. The less dirt and debris in it, the less likely you are to have issues with spiders and other bugs. Get rid of the clutter in your car. Clutter provides lots of hiding spots for insects so it's in your best interest to keep the clutter out of your vehicle. Try essential oils. Spiders are naturally repelled by scents like citrus, cedar, peppermint, rosemary, garlic, and lavender. Mix 5-7 drops into a spray bottle of water and spritz your vehicle. Make sure all of your door and window seals are tight and in good condition. Keep your doors and windows closed when you're not in the vehicle. Try not to park next to debris or heavily wooded areas.
