This new Toyota has a shorter stopping distance (161 feet to come to a complete stop from 70 mph, while the Kia needs 174 feet). The Toyota RAV4 can tow up to 3,500 lbs while the Kia Sportage maxes out at 2,000 lbs. It also has a greater ground clearance for better handling on off-road surfaces. Here are some of the highlights we noticed when comparing it to the Kia Sportage: The Toyota RAV4 offers options like memory seats (not available on the Kia competition), a power parking brake with one-touch release AND automatic release (unlike the Sportage's, which is solely manual), and one-touch power front and rear windows. This new Toyota also offers a unique feature that allows you to roll up the car windows using the outside door handle, as well as a keyless remote feature to roll them down on hot days. Some trim-levels of this Toyota offer automatic windshield wipers (they adjust themselves) in contrast to the Kia's wipers, which have to be manually adjusted. The 2022 Toyota RAV4 has more front headroom, front shoulder room, rear headroom, and rear shoulder room than the 2022 Kia Sportage. It also has a larger cargo space in the rear - 37.6 cubic feet with the rear seats up versus the Sportage's 30.7 cubic feet. Bad news on the driving front today - traffic fatalities are at an all-time high, which means it's of the utmost importance that you not only drive a safe car but also know the ins and outs of defensive driving and how to conduct yourself when you're behind the wheel. The U.S. government reported yesterday that traffic deaths totaled over 31,000 for the first nine months of 2021, an all-time high that's 12% higher than the same time frame in 2020. Why? The Secretary of Transportation, however, says that traffic fatalities can be reduced by safer roads, higher safety standards for cars, and new tech like automated braking in cars. Toyota is all about dropping teasers these days and this week was no exception. Just when the excitement over the new GR Corolla Hot Hatch was dying down, they worked everyone up again by putting out a press release teasing a new Toyota SUV. However, all we got were a few lines of copy and one half-photo of the rear of the vehicle. Toyota of Orlando is diving into the press release AND the rumors surrounding it - buckle up! What new Toyota SUV will be introduced to the lineup? So first, let's talk about the press release itself. It came out yesterday and as noted, showcased a static image of the rear of an SUV. The headline reads "The Next Big Thing From Toyota" and the copy is scarce, only stating "Something big is coming to the Toyota SUV lineup. A clear picture will come into view soon. Stay tuned." Not much to go on, but we're ready to speculate alongside the rest of the automotive world. Here goes. In our opinion, this new Toyota SUV is one of two models: The newly redesigned 2023 Toyota Sequoia, or the all-new Toyota Grand Highlander. Why? Basically, since the Land Cruiser was retired in 2021 there's been a hole in the lineup for a larger SUV. Sure, we have the Sequoia, but even the 2022 model is - to put it bluntly - stale. So it stands to reason that either a completely retooled Sequoia model will be released in 2023 to freshen things up, or the new Grand Highlander will be unveiled to take the place of the old Toyota Land Cruiser. We've talked about the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia before; as we said, it's been 15 years (15!!) since the last redesign. This plush, performance-driven Orlando Toyota SUV is in major need of a facelift inside, out, and under the hood. Here's a roundup of the rumors surrounding it: It'll be redesigned for 2023 with a completely new look (likely similar to the new 2022 Toyota Tundra) and an updated interior with premium materials and top technology. It's widely speculated that the 5.7L V8 engine currently in residence will be kicked to the curb for the new turbocharged V6 option currently found in the 2022 Toyota Tundra. It could also be offered in a hybrid model, just like its truck sibling. It'll sit on the new TNGA-F platform which offers majorly updated ride comfort and safety features. But what about this Grand Highlander business? This one is PURE speculation so don't come for us if it doesn't come to fruition. The rumor is that since Toyota recently patented the "Grand Highlander" name, they might be introducing a larger, three-row Highlander option into the market. It would be slightly larger than the existing model (which to be fair, does have three rows, but the third row is a LITTLE cramped) and fit in between the current Highlander and Sequoia in the lineup. Not only did they release a killer new concept sports car, but they also announced that they're expanding their classic parts catalog for all those classic Toyota enthusiasts out there. The Heritage Parts Catalog will now include parts for five models - the 40 Series Land Cruiser, 2000GT, A70 Series Supra, A80 Series Supra, and the AE86 Corolla. Parts will range from everything from clutches and driveshafts all the way down to badging. If you're looking for a sign it's time to start that classic Toyota restoration, this is it! Refurbed cars: A thing of the future? Have you ever bought a refurbished phone or a refurbished computer? Basically, refurbishing is when a company takes a used product, restores it to "like new" condition, attaches a warranty, and sells it again. Apple is famous for its refurb options, and rumor has it that Toyota is going to follow in the tech giant's footsteps and start refurbishing used cars to sell to consumers. And we get it - this plush SUV hasn't really been updated or redesigned in a while, and with all the buzz around the new Toyota Highlander and RAV4, it's easy to forget that the Toyota Sequoia is also waiting on the lot. After all, the Toyota Land Cruiser has officially been retired, leaving an empty slot for a larger, -performance-driven SUV to fill. This will be the third generation of the is SUV; the second generation was released in 2007 (as we said, it's in dire need of a redesign). The 2023 Toyota Sequoia redesign will likely sit on the new TNGA-F platform, which the new Toyota Tundra is utilizing this year. This platform provides numerous safety and ride quality improvements. We highly, highly doubt that this new generation will carry over the 5.7L V8 engine that it's been using. Remember, the new 2022 Toyota Tundra did away with the V8 and replaced it with both a twin-turbo V6 and i-Force Max hybrid version that offer 389 hp/479 lb-ft torque and 437 hp/583 lb-ft torque, respectively. Rumor has it that the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia redesign will get both options, giving you plenty to work with. There's also a rumor going around that the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia redesign will also offer special trim-levels similar to the Toyota Tundra, including a high-end "Capstone" trim that's crammed with luxury features, as well as a performance-driven TRD Pro trim. It's going to be rocking a new look entirely. The new Toyota Tundra is angular, muscular, and aggressive looking, and all signs point to the 2023 Toyota Sequoia redesign taking the same route in terms of aesthetics. It should be introduced and brought to dealers sometime this year - we're thinking maybe mid to late summer? It will definitely be a 2023 model and should take its place in the market in the next 8-10 months. Since its introduction to the automotive market back in the 1960s, it's been full-steam ahead for this much-loved sedan. The Toyota Corolla gets put to print That's why we weren't surprised when Toyota hit the 50 million mark in terms of cars sold. It took 55 years to achieve the goal, and they're celebrating in a big, big way - with a new original manga comic series that traces the history of the iconic Toyota Corolla. This is a first for the automaker, and they're pulling out all the stops. Here's what we know about this Orlando Toyota Corolla-themed  manga series: It's only been released in Japan (although we're sure you'll be able to work your internet magic and get a copy) and is entirely in Japanese. Additionally, it's only available online - we don't know yet if a printed copy will be released at any point. The comic traces the history of the iconic Toyota Corolla, hitting all the highlights in its illustrious life over the years. It starts in the 1960s (when the car first came out) with a father bringing how the first-generation model and taking his family out for a spin to experience it. The comic then hops to the 1970s and features a father-and-son duo having a talk while out for a drive. The 1980s portion of the series features the immensely popular AE86 Corolla, which is still a hot commodity to this day. The 1990s showcase a family taking the Toyota Corolla out for ice cream. Then, for some reason, the comic bypasses the 2000s and 2010s and hops right into the 2020s, and showcases the new top-of-the-line technology found in the Orlando Toyota Corolla. The illustrations are beautiful and also drawn in a period-correct style for each section. The stories are based on true-life experiences and photos that were submitted by actual Corolla owners. When it comes to trucks, the Toyota world has been abuzz. The newly redesigned 2022 Toyota Tundr a is arriving at dealerships as we speak and yesterday, Toyota unveiled two new EV truck concepts that have people talking. Toyota of Orlando is here with the details. Are new electric Toyotas coming? We all know that Toyota is gearing up to add more electric and hybrid cars to its lineup; the company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and offering customers more fuel-efficient and eco-friendly options. That's why our Orlando Toyota dealership wasn't overly shocked when they unveiled two new EV concept trucks this week at a Battery EV Strategies meeting - a Tacoma EV and a Compact Cruiser EV (which is extremely reminiscent of the now-retired Toyota FJ Cruiser). The new Toyota Tacoma is due for a redesign and rumor has it that next year is the year. And given that the Toyota Tundra was given a complete overhaul under the hood and now offers a hybrid drivetrain option, we wouldn't be surprised to see Toyota introduce a hybrid or electric option for the next generation of the Orlando Toyota Tacoma. From what we can tell, it would be a midsize truck (or sit somewhere in between the current Toyota Tacoma and new Toyota Tundra). Additionally, the concept that came out looks similar to the newly redesigned Tundra in many ways - honestly, you could just replace the grille with something a little more traditional and roll this truck right off of the assembly line. And offering an electric option wouldn't affect performance; after all, electric cars offer instant horsepower and torque. The Compact Cruiser, on the other hand, is a major callback to the iconic Toyota FJ Cruiser that was retired circa 2013. It also looks a bit like the FT-4X concept that came out in 2017. This sporty concept would offer some stiff competition to the new Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler if it did come out, offering both horsepower and torque as well as an eco-friendly performance and enhanced fuel efficiency. This one seems a little less likely than the new Toyota Tacoma offering an electric option, but since the Toyota Land Cruiser was retired, there is a hole in Toyota's off-roading lineup, it is plausible. We've been hearing rumors that Toyota wants to fill said spot and also compete with the popular new Ford Bronco, so fingers crossed, off-roaders. Another Toyota news roundup 2022 Toyota Tundra officially in production If you didn't know that an all-new, fully redesigned 2022 Toyota Tundra was headed our way, then we're sorry and we don't know where you've been for the past like, year and a half. But it is, and the truck is officially in production and ready to hit the road in San Antonio, Texas. This incredible new Orlando Toyota should be arriving at our dealership any day - you can view the inventory online to see what's coming and schedule an appointment to come in and put yourself in the driver's seat. Toyota vows to go fully zero-emissions in Europe by 2035 Toyota is all about going green - not only did they get the ball rolling with the iconic Toyota Prius back in the 2000s, but they also continue to design and produce green cars that embrace hybrid, electric, and fuel cell tech. And they're getting serious - the automaker just claimed that by 2035, it's their goal for all sales to be completely zero emissions in Europe. And there's good news for us, too. Toyota also stated that by 2030, at least half of their lineup would be available in zero emissions models (electric and fuel cell). So if you want to go green, you'll have plenty of options. Personally, we can't wait for the new Toyota bZ4X to get here. New Arctic Trucks Land Cruiser unveiled Everyone knows that the Toyota Land Cruiser is an icon when it comes to off-roading. And everyone was bummed when it was announced that this legendary SUV was being discontinued in the US. However, it's still being produced overseas, and Arctic Trucks Russia got their hands on the new 300 Series to create a seriously cool concept. This particular Toyota Land Cruiser has redesigned wheel arches, a reinforced suspension system with new dampers and springs, and a wider track... all of which means much better handling on icy or snowy surfaces. Toyota USA is living their best life on Instagram whipping their fans into a frenzy with sly teasers about the new GR Corolla (which we are POSITIVE is coming soon). This particular shot is of the already-existing Toyota Corolla Hatchback but if you look closely, you'll notice a camouflaged Corolla prototype hiding in the shadows. You'll also see that on the red shipping container above the car, there's lettering - NA (North America) and G16 (a nod to the engine in the current GR Yaris) are both right there. So far, the reviews are in and they're all good; people are living for the all-new design, performance, and tech specs that this completely redesigned truck will have to offer. One news piece that stuck out to us this week, however, is how it compares to the Ford F-150 (one of its main competitors) in one extremely important area... resale value. To put it neatly, the 2022 Toyota Tundra crushes the competition with its innate ability to hold its value. J.D. Power is projecting the new Toyota Tundra to have the BEST resale value in its segment, and CarsDirect is forecasting that it'll have the best residual value in a lease. Bottom line? You're getting your money's worth and making a smart investment if you put this Orlando Toyota in your driveway. Is Toyota teasing a GR Corolla on Instagram? If you follow Toyota USA on the 'Gram, you probably got pretty excited this weekend to see what some users are basically calling an "I Spy" game in their feed. They posted a picture of a Corolla Hatchback - nothing new, it's been out for a few years - but in it, liberally sprinkled hints that fuel the recent rumors that a GR Corolla is headed stateside. The image is below: And hints are as follows: The time on the gauge cluster is G:16, which is a shout-out to the G16E-GTS turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that's currently in the much-coveted GR Yaris. That engine puts out 268 horsepower, and 268 is seen on the climate controls in this hatchback's dash. The nav system shows "GR Four Road", which is a reference to the all-wheel-drive system with Torsen limited-slip differentials in the front and rear and an electronically-controlled center differential. And to top it off, there's a teeny tiny teaser of a camouflaged GR Corolla Hatchback in the background of the image. Consensus says it's coming. Toyota Tundra pricing announced Like we said, the first round of 2022 Toyota Tundras is coming in mere weeks (and you can always pre-purchase yours on our website - they're live in our inventory NOW). Pricing has also been officially announced, and this completely redesigned truck will kick things off with a starting MSRP of $44,990. There will be 23 different trim and model configurations up for grabs, so whatever you're looking for, it'll have it. Toyota dominates list of 2021's most reliable cars No surprise here - Consumer Report's annual list of the year's most reliable cars is out, and Toyota dominated. They took three of the top ten spots with the Toyota Highlander, Toyota Prius, and Toyota Prius Prime taking spots 8, 4, and 3, respectively. We think they should ALL be on the list, but hey - we guess Consumer Reports has to be fair.
