If you're the owner - or the future owner - of a Toyota electric vehicle, we've got big news when it comes to your charging. Toyota and Lexus just announced that they're adopting the North American charging standard (NACS), having reached an agreement with Tesla! This means that certain Orlando Toyota electric vehicles will be able to use the 12,000 Tesla supercharger stations available across the US for fast, convenient charging. more Why is partnering with Tesla on charging stations meaningful for Toyota electric vehicles? This is a big deal - not only does it increase the number of charging stations that Toyota electric vehicle owners have access to, but it also allows them to utilize superchargers, which are extremely fast. Here are the details of what we know about this exciting agreement so far. Toyota and Lexus will start to incorporate NCAS ports into their new vehicles in 2025. These vehicles will include an all-new three-row, battery-electric Toyota SUV slated to come out between now and then (and it'll be assembled in Kentucky). Customers who own or lease applicable Toyota electric vehicles with the Combined Charging System (CCS) will be offered an adapter to allow them to use the NACS charging system in 2025. As of 2023, there are more than 84,000 charging ports in America for Toyota electric vehicles, including level 2 and DC fast chargers. This will expand access to 12,000+ more charging stations via the Tesla supercharger network. But why does it matter that Toyota electric vehicle owners will have more access to DC fast chargers, also known as superchargers? How long does it take to charge an electric car? It all boils down to the question of how long does it take to charge an electric car. Here's the breakdown: There are three types of chargers: level one, level two, and level three (also known as DC fast chargers). Level one chargers are standard 120V chargers - like the outlets at your house. A level one charger is the equivalent of plugging your Toyota electric vehicle into the wall in your home garage. This is the slowest type of charger - it can take literal days for you to get a full charge with a level one charger. That's why this type of charger is recommended for Toyota drivers who have plug-in hybrids or a really, really short commute. Level two chargers are more powerful - doubly, to be exact. Taco enthusiasts are thrilled, and the unveiling of this redesigned truck has sent the internet swirling into speculation about the new 2024 Toyota 4Runner. The Toyota 4Runner is an absolute icon in the off-roading world - it's durable, capable, rugged, and yet still a comfortable and connected truck that allows for comfortable real-world driving, too. It's due for a redesign - there's no denying that. The fifth and most recent generation has been rocking since 2009. It's time, and we think Toyota knows it too. We were thinking 2024, but here's the thing - ANOTHER part of the internet is vehement that Toyota is going to bring back the iconic Toyota Land Cruiser sometime next year. We know nothing about that but if it's true, it could push the 2024 Toyota 4Runner preview back further. Production could shift to North America. Typically, the 4Runner is produced in Japan. However, we see Toyota shifting production to North America more and more, so it's not out of the question to think that they might shift the Toyota 4Runner production here, too. It may have a different engine. Right now, this Orlando Toyota has a 4.0L V6 engine. However, we're consistently seeing Toyota downsize its engines (the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequoia went from V8s to V6s, for example). We could see the new iteration of this Orlando Toyota shifting to a new 4-cylinder with turbocharged capabilities - specifically, the turbocharged 2.4L inline-four that's in the new Lexus NX 350. It gets 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft torque. We could also see it offering a new hybrid drivetrain. We think the Hybrid Max powertrain in the current Toyota Crown is a strong contender - a 2.4L hybrid system that produces 340 horsepower and 400 lb-ft torque. It'll definitely have an updated design inside and out - we're thinking a brand-new look that's similar to the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma, as well as an interior that's more ergonomic, has modern styling, and has new technology. The MSRP will likely see a slight bump, but we're willing to bet it'll be worth it for all the upgraded tech + performance features. We don't think an EV is in the works. We haven't seen any full EV versions of the Tacoma, Tundra, or Sequoia, so we're doubtful one will appear in the redesign of the 2024 Toyota 4Runner.
