Toyota is renowned for thinking outside of the box and if there was ever a vehicle that fits that bill, it would be the new Toyota TJ cruiser. This cool concept car was introduced to the public a few years ago and its unique shape and incredibly utilitarian features stood out from the current run of SUVs, minivans, and wagons. And we just got news - it's officially moving from the concept stage into production this year. Toyota TJ Cruiser will hit the Japanese market in 2020 The Toyota TJ Cruiser won't be in production in America, unfortunately - at least not for now. For the time being the only way you'll be able to get your hands on this ultra-versatile SUV is to buy it in Japan and have it imported. However, we do have the details when it comes to this interesting new concept-turned-production car. Check it out: The "TJ" in TJ Cruiser is an abbreviation for "tool" and "joy" - it's a play off of the fact that this versatile new ride is both utilitarian AND fun to drive. The Toyota TJ Cruiser was first introduced as a concept car back in 2017 at the Tokyo Motor Show and has since been compared to the once-famous Honda Element. This adaptable vehicle is a sort of hybrid between an SUV, wagon, and minivan, meaning it's super spacious in terms of both passenger capacity and cargo capacity. It features rear sliding doors that are wider than usual as well as fold-flat seats - even the front passenger's seat will fold down to make more cargo space. Additionally, the cargo hatch is large to accommodate getting bigger items into the back. Rumor has it that this interesting ride will feature three rows of seats as well. The concept vehicle featured 20" wheels with large tires and scratch- and dirt-resistant body panels, but we're not sure if those will actually make it onto the production vehicle (although it would be pretty cool if they did). We also aren't sure if the concept design will carry over to production. The Toyota TJ Cruiser concept is incredibly boxy and futuristic-looking, but that may not translate into the general market. It's been speculated that this new Toyota will feature a hybrid engine, likely in a 1.8L or 2.5L configuration. However, some people think it'll also be up for grabs in a non-hybrid model with available all-wheel drive (similar to the current Orlando Toyota RAV4). Production will likely begin in May of 2020 - the TJ Cruiser was actually supposed to go into production in October of 2019 but faced minor delays. That's all we know so far, but it looks like this interesting concept could translate into a funky but efficient new Toyota option. And there's always a chance it could be shifted to the US market, especially if it performs well in the Japanese market... so keep your fingers crossed! The Toyota GR Yaris *MIGHT* come to the US People have been pretty excited about the sporty new Toyota GR Yaris, which sports an inline-3 engine that gets 268 horsepower. This small-but-mighty hatchback has been available exclusively in Japan and Europe... up until now. Toyota recently retweeted a post from Jalopnik (a website that reviews all things automotive) that asked "Does the North American market need another hot hatch? Let us know what you think!" Does the retweet mean that Toyota is seriously considering importing the new GR Yaris to the US? We can dream... Toyota works with Panasonic on a new battery Toyota is well-known in the realm of green cars for its innovative hybrid and electric vehicle technology. Now they're upping the ante by pairing up with Panasonic to work on a new EV battery that can be utilized in both hybrid and electric cars. Said battery will be a prismatic lithium-ion battery, which is easier for automakers to connect in cars and also offers a safe and cost-effective option. 2020 Highlander saves the day at the Super Bowl The new 2020 Toyota Highlander is back and hotter than ever with a striking redesign, but it also got to play the hero in a dynamic ad with Cobie Smulders for this year's Super Bowl. In the 60 second spot the Orlando Toyota Highlander rescues people left behind in several disastrous scenarios - you know, because it's so roomy and comfortable inside. Toyota's flying cars are coming to fruition Flying cars are coming - you heard right. It may seem like an early April Fool's Joke, but Toyota recently invested $394 million into Joby Aviation. The aerospace company will lend the automotive giant engineering expertise, specifically in the areas of commercial EV vertical take-off and landing vehicles (i.e., flying electric cars). Move over, Marty McFly. A new accelerator safety feature is in the works Just like it's known for expertise in the world of green cars, Toyota is also renowned on a global scale for its innovative research into automotive safety for both drivers and pedestrians. A new feature is in the works - accelerator suppression function. This advanced safety tech will process data to determine whether or not the driver is purposefully pressing the accelerator. If the acceleration is deemed to be a mistake, the car will ignore the input and continue at its previous rate of speed.

The Orlando Toyota RAV4 is a much-loved SUV for many reasons. It was recently redesigned for a seriously sleek and sporty look, offers great fuel efficiency combined with a spacious interior, and even comes in a hybrid drivetrain to save you money and cut down on emissions. However, it's about to get even cooler - as of 2021, things are getting electric. Meet the latest and greatest Toyota RAV4 The Los Angeles Auto Show took place last week and Toyota unveiled the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Plug-in to the world for the first time. This majorly green version of the ever-popular SUV is packing a punch when it comes to... well, just about everything, and Toyota of Orlando is here with the details! Check out the highlights below. This new Toyota SUV will have a 2.5L Atkinson cycle inline four engine from the current Toyota RAV4 Hybrid for 176 horsepower. However, it's also boasting two electric motors, which boosts things up to 302 horsepower total. This model will also showcase on-demand all-wheel drive, where the rear wheels will be powered as needed by the electric motors. This all-wheel drive system additionally features a trail mode so give you some flexibility when it comes to taking things off the pavement. This Orlando Toyota will be able to get from 0-60 mph in just 5.8 seconds, making it the second-fastest vehicle in Toyota's lineup after the Supra. Talk about speed! The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Plug-In will be able to go 39 miles on electric power alone before switching over to the engine, making it an exceptionally green SUV. Two models will be available - the SE and XSE. The SE model will showcase features like an 8" touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers will also love a power liftgate and heated front seats, as well as a sleek exterior decked out with 18" wheels and black trim. This model also offers a power driver's seat and a 7" display in the instrument gauge cluster. The XSE model takes things up a notch with features like 19" wheels, limited-edition two-tone paint colors, and vertical LED daytime running lights. The interior offers incredible highlights like synthetic leather upholstery (it's more eco-friendly), new paddle shifters that also control regenerative braking, Qi wireless charging, and a 9" touchscreen audio interface. The Toyota Camry has always been a much-loved car. It's classically stylish, incredibly reliable, decked out with all the technology you need for both safety and entertainment, and offers an unbeatable performance to boot. However, Toyota isn't about to get complacent just because this sleek sedan is a best-seller. They're taking things up a notch for the 2020 model year and introducing a whole new element of drive time never before seen on this popular Orlando Toyota: all-wheel drive. Up until this point, the Orlando Toyota Camry was only available in front-wheel drive. It's different than four-wheel drive because unlike four-wheel drive, all-wheel drive is sending power to all four wheels all the time (not just when you choose to turn it on). How all-wheel drive take the Orlando Toyota Camry up another level What are the perks of all-wheel drive? Here's how it can upgrade your drive time: Better traction. This means you'll have more grip in inclement conditions like rain, snow, or ice. If one or two of your tires loses its grip, the other two can still power the vehicle and provide traction. More traction = a much safer drive time when the roads are slippery and you're a lot more likely to get into an accident. Better performance. Four wheel providing power means more power gets transferred to the tires immediately, making your car faster when accelerating. Additionally, all-wheel drive gives you better steering capabilities as both front wheels can be devoted to steering instead of carrying the load when it comes to moving the car forward. Better handing. All-wheel drive systems distribute the weight better throughout the car instead of having it all up front. OK - we're not huge proponents of taking the 2020 Toyota Camry on an off-road expedition. It's not built for taking on rugged terrain and doesn't have the same performance capabilities as a Toyota truck or SUV (or the height needed). However, if you do find yourself driving on sand, mud, or gravel, you'll find that you have better grip despite the different surface and more control over your car. The 2019 SEMA show is taking place in Las Vegas right now, and in honor of the occasion the Orlando Toyota Supra got modified in a big way - in nine different ways, to be exact. Toyota of Orlando has the scoop on these incredible concept cars and what they have to offer (and we've got our fingers crossed that at least a few of them make it to the lot). GR Supra Heritage Edition: This Orlando Toyota sports car is a seamless blend of the current model and aspects of the exceptionally popular 1990's model - talk about a throwback. New headlights, taillights, and an oversized rear spoiler were added, as well as Brembo brakes, 19" HRE wheels, metallic red paint, an aluminum rear diffuser, a suspension lowered by 3". GR Supra Hyperboost Edition: This particular model of the popular sports car boasts a custom turbo kit that punches horsepower up to 750+. It also has a more aggressive look thanks to a custom carbon fiber wide-body kit. G R Supra Performance Line Concept: This special concept car is decked out in carbon-fiber components designed to make it more aerodynamic, as well as 19" forged aluminum wheels for an incredibly sleek look. GR Supra 3000GT Concept: This concept car is a tribute to the much-loved TRD3000GT body kit that was introduced back in the 1990's when the original Orlando Toyota Supra was in its hey-day. We Can Finally Plug-In the New Toyota RAV4 Another update in Orlando new Toyota news is the imminent arrival of a plug-in hybrid version of the updated Toyota RAV4. The hybrid version of the 2019 Toyota RAV4 already sports incredible fuel efficiency and a bit of extra horsepower over it's internal combustion counterparts. But, Toyota is giving the popular SUV's fuel-efficiency a significant upgrade and a new paint color options, Supersonic Red. A Compact Battery Electric Powered Toyota is on the way Are you getting the feeling that a lot of this new Toyota news revolves around compact vehicles? Well, in any event, Toyota will be unveiling another Orlando Toyota compact vehicle during the Tokyo Auto Show next month. This new vehicle is powered via a battery and is designed to commute short distances. In fact, the target market for this car is the aging Japanese population. It can travel 62 miles on a single charge and reach a top speed of 37 mile per hour. Toyota has also hinted that this vehicle could double as a mobile office with future renditions of the model being up for consideration. More New Toyota News About a Compact Car We told you. In other new Toyota news, a hybrid version of the compact classic Toyota Yaris will be coming to Japan next year. This new Orlando Toyota Yaris model will use Toyota's new TNGA platform and include the a 1.5L inline 3-cylinder hybrid system engine, a first for this model. New Toyota Vehicles Coming Soon 1) 2020 Toyota 4Runner Venture Edition Officially Announced By now you're probably well aware of the imminent arrival of the new Toyota 4Runner with all-new infotainment and safety technology upgrades. But, while those upgrades sound nice, we want more from our beloved body-on-frame rugged SUV. Introducing, the officially announced Orlando new Toyota 4Runner Venture Edition. This limited edition model of the Toyota 4Runner is built on the TRD Off-Road model and includes all premium features of that model plus Yakima Megawarrior roof racks for additional storage up top. 2) A Second-Generation Toyota Mirai is on the Way for 2020! While the world is still slow to adopt hydrogen fueling on a widespread scale, Toyota is doubling down and releasing a second-generation iteration of the stylish Toyota Mirai. Unfortunately, no designs or engineering specifications have been released and it's difficult to pin down a release date. Hydrogen fueling has not been widely adopted and fueling stations (along with sales of the Mirai) are limited to California in North America. Unless hydrogen fueling stations are quickly introduced in the east, it's unlikely that we'll see the 2020 new Toyota Mirai available at Toyota of Orlando. 3) A New Toyota 86 is Coming! It's well-known that Toyota and Subaru have been frequent partners when it comes to vehicle development. They partnered to craft the iconic Orlando Toyota 86 (also known as the Subaru BRZ) and the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid using Toyota Prius technology. For a while now, fans of both of these iconic auto brands have been yearning for a new rendition of the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ and we're getting one pretty soon! Toyota has increased its shares in Subaru from 16.83% to 20% and Subaru will soon become an "associated company of Toyota." The two companies will possibly work on a pure EV in the future. But, the pair will most likely be collaborating on a new rendition of the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ. Not many details have been confirmed regarding this Orlando new Toyota vehicle, but we're beyond excited to welcome it to the lot whenever it arrives. We’re throwing shade over at Toyota of Orlando━Nightshade that is. The time has come for the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Corolla Hatchback lineup to introduce the special Nightshade Edition for the 2020 model year. With a grand total of six vehicle options, already including the 4Runner, Camry, Sienna, and Highlander, darkness has taken hold of the Toyota family. Popular Orlando Toyota Sedan Goes Dark They say it’s all in the details. Already a great option on our lot with its sleek interior, bold exterior, and new grade strategy, the 2020 Toyota Corolla sedan will now offer the same modern look, now in Nightshade. Production will be kicking off this fall on this all-new special edition. Blacked-out accents will now be an available option when purchasing the SE grade. This sleek Nightshade Edition of the 2020 Toyota will include features like blacked-out badging, door handles, and window trim. The grille will be trimmed with black, as well as the side heated power mirrors, side rocker panels, and 18” alloy wheels. In the back, the sedan will also be expected to include a black spoiler and low diffuser area. To round it all out, the roof will be adorned with a black shark fin antenna that will act as the cherry on top of this jaw-dropping edition. The available colors of this popular sedan will include super white, classic silver metallic, and black sand pearl. This limited edition offer will be expected to have an MSRP of $22,750. Toyota Corolla Hatchback gets the Nightshade Treatment Last year, the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback made its grand debut as a sporty new addition to the family. It rocked our dealership from the start with its option for a fun Blue Flame exterior and 18” alloy wheels. Now the hatchback will also come in the Nightshade Edition for an even more modern look. Similarly to the sedan, the Nightshade package will soon be available on the hatchback SE grade. This special edition of the hatchback will include multiple blacked-out features. The automotive world is getting hyped - the Tokyo Motor Show is fast approaching, and we can't wait to see which new Toyotas are unveiled when it finally arrives! See Toyota of Orlando's take on rumored unveils this fall The Toyota TJ Cruiser We've written about the rumored Toyota TJ Cruiser before - this modernistic SUV is a part-SUV, part-minivan spinoff from the much-loved Toyota FJ Cruiser. It's supposed that it MIGHT go into production after being officially revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show and could even make its way to the US. The Toyota FT-4X This new Toyota crossover has four doors AND four-wheel drive, making it a versatile option for drivers from all walks of life. It's utilitarian with a high degree of adaptability and off-road-friendly features like low range and four-wheel drive, as well as cool add-ons like a multi-hatch that opens in two different directions and a "wet zone" where you can store muddy boots and damp wetsuits. Honestly, out of all the concepts, we think this one is the coolest and would love to see it at Toyota of Orlando eventually. A redesigned Toyota 86 Toyota has been talking a lot about a "performance trio", with the all-new Toyota Supra and the Toyota 86 being the first two members. However, before they introduce the third, they want to amp up the existing Toyota 86 with a new platform and possible engineering upgrades. Additionally, it'll still be a collaboration with Subaru so the popular BRZ will also see changes in its near future. The GRMN Toyota Supra We've seen the new Toyota GR Supra up close and personal right here at Toyota of Orlando. However, the GRMN model is a possible new sub-model will be lighter and will include an upgraded suspension and additional new engineering features to take performance up to a new level.
