6 commonly asked car parts questions

Car parts can be confusing. If you're not pretty well-versed in what goes on under the hood or really anywhere else on your vehicle, it can be a little overwhelming to try to shop for parts on your own. However, Toyota of Orlando is here to make it easier! We have a fully stocked parts shop at our dealership so you can come in and check things out in person before you buy. Not only that, we have skilled parts specialists who can help you order anything we don't have in the store and advise you on what will work best for your car. And finally, we've rounded up some of the most commonly asked car parts questions to get you started on some basic auto parts knowledge. Check it out! Common auto parts questions answered #1: What are OEM parts? OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer - for example, Toyota parts are OEM since Toyota manufactures them. These parts are made especially for specific makes and models. #2: Where can I buy OEM parts? Good news - you can buy OEM car parts right here at Toyota of Orlando! You can shop in person at our store or come meet with one of our parts specialists to order parts from Toyota online and have them shipped here. #3: Can I use aftermarket car parts? Aftermarket car parts are parts that are designed for your vehicle, but they're not from the original manufacturer. Another company makes them and for the most part, you can use them on your car. However, you'll want to check with one of our Orlando Toyota parts or service specialists to make sure the parts are compatible before you swipe that credit card. You should also check to ensure they aren't going to void any warranties or lease agreements that you might have on the car. #4: Where can I buy aftermarket parts? Pretty much anywhere - lots of auto parts stores carry aftermarket parts if that's what you're after. Again, just make sure they're compatible with your car before you plunk down your money. #5: What about used parts - are those OK? We'll be frank with you - we don't think it's that great of an idea. Used car parts are just that; used. This means they've been through wear and tear already and the chances of them giving out on you are higher than if you were to buy new parts. They may be cheaper, but if you have to replace them sooner, it's not really a cost-effective investment. Plus, they often don't come with warranties on them. #6: What do I do with my old automotive parts when I'm done with them? You can't just throw used parts in the trash. Your best bet is to sell them to an auto parts shop, try to recycle them appropriately, or sell them for scrap metal. 5 common car care questions, answered

When it comes to taking care of what's under the hood of your car, sometimes it can be like speaking another language. And if you're not well-versed in that language, it's stressful to even visit the mechanic and routine service! We like to educate our customers so not only do they know how to keep their car in tip-top shape, they also feel comfortable when they come to see us for routine car care or to repair something that's on the fritz. Check out these five common car care questions that we often hear and the answers to them to make yourself feel a bit more at home when it comes to what goes on under the hood. What car care questions do you have for us? #1: Can I switch from conventional oil to synthetic and vice versa? Most of the time, yes. But not all of the time. Some drivers prefer synthetic oil in their engines because it's cleaner, lasts longer than conventional oil, and some even claim it improves performance. Other drivers prefer conventional oil because it's what they're used to and is also more affordable than synthetic oil (although it doesn't last as long). You can really use either type as long as your car doesn't require a specific type of oil. Ask our Orlando Toyota car care experts what's best for your ride. #2: Should I listen to my instrument panel, my owner's manual, or my mechanic when it comes to routine car care? Always defer to the instrument panel first - those warning lights come on for a reason. After that, you should listen to your car care technician. When they're under the hood they may spot issues that need to be taken care of (like an oil leak or overuse of coolant) that could call for a change in your routine schedule. However, you can use your owner's manual for a backup when it comes to figuring out about how often you should be making an appointment at our Orlando Toyota service center. #3: Do I need to use premium gasoline to get the best fuel mileage? No. This is a pretty common myth - in fact, using premium fuel will do nothing but jack up your fuel costs when you stop to fill up. You only need to use premium fuel if your car requires it, which you can figure out by looking in the owner's manual. #4: Do I REALLY have to change my timing belt? YES. We know - it's expensive because there's so much labor involved in it. But your timing belt is crucial to your car's performance. If it breaks while you're out on the road, it can cause serious damage to the other components of your engine. It also ensures that everything is running smoothly under the hood. Never skip out on this important car care appointment - your wallet will thank you in the long run. #5: Should I worry about changing out all-weather tires for winter tires? Possibly. All-weather tires are perfect for drivers here in Orlando and in the south in general; they can handle everything from the heat of summer to the icy roads we sometimes see in the winter. However, if you live in a climate where you see heavy snowfall, lots of ice, and extreme cold temperatures, then you need to schedule a car care appointment to make the switch. Winter tires are more pliable and provide more traction in extreme temperatures. Let our Orlando Toyota service techs put your mind at ease Have more car care questions? Call Toyota of Orlando's service center today at (407) 298-0001 or swing by and see us at 3575 Vineland Road, just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall.

2 new Toyotas to look out for at the New York Auto Show

The New York Auto Show is set to kick off this Friday - April 19 will unveil a host of new vehicles, both production and concept. We can't wait to see what this iconic show brings to the forefront of the auto industry, especially since Toyota will be revealing two all-new models to the public. Here are the two new Toyotas you should be on the lookout for during this exciting automotive show. Which new Toyotas will be unveiled at the end of this week? #1: 2020 Toyota Yaris Hatchback The 2020 Toyota Yaris Hatchback is taking things to a new level in the hatchback world. This new Toyota promises a new 1.5L 4-cylinder engine with direct and high compression fuel injection as well as a Sport driving mode and new MacPherson Strut front suspension and torsion beam rear suspension. You'll also love the new look it's bringing to the table. It has a "cab rearward" focus, which means it sits lower and has a sportier and more aggressive stance. It's also showcasing a new lower front grille and new LED headlights, daytime running lights, and fog lights, as well as 16" alloy wheels and a chrome tailpipe. This Orlando Toyota will further bring brand new paint colors to complement its refreshed design and turn heads with a sleek new interior that mixes sportiness with sophistication. And did we mention that thanks to its new design, this Orlando Toyota is more spacious than ever? #2: 2020 Toyota Highlander We don't know much about this new Toyota SUV. Last week Toyota introduced a pretty amazing concept video that showcased what it could look like through "augmented reality". The Orlando Toyota Highlander hasn't been redesigned since 2014, so it's definitely due for a refresh and we can't wait to see what Toyota has in mind. From what we can tell, the new design looks similar to the old one but has a more aggressive rear and looks to be a little more sculpted in terms of exterior lines and curves. We also can guess that it'll still offer a 3.5L V6 engine under the hood as well as a go-green hybrid model for drivers who are eco-conscious. Additionally, we know it'll still be a 3-seater that's dedicated to a seamless blend of style AND family-friendliness, and that it'll be out in the end of this year for you to drive home. The New York Auto Show is a big deal, and not just because these exciting new Toyotas are going to be unveiled. More than 1,000 new cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans will be debuted at the show from automakers all over the world. Both up-and-coming production models AND futuristic concept models are featured, and the show will run for nearly 10 days to give everyone a glimpse of the wide variety of vehicles. And the best part? It's open to the public - which means YOU can check out these new Toyotas in person. Follow Toyota of Orlando to learn more about these 2020 models For more information on the 2020 Toyota Yaris Hatchback and 2020 Toyota Highlander, follow Toyota of Orlando on social media! The pros and cons of owning a pickup truck

Thinking about making your next ride a pickup truck? There's no better place to shop than Toyota of Orlando. We've got a great selection of new Toyota trucks on the lot including the versatile Toyota Tacoma and the workhorse Toyota Tundra. However, if you're still on the fence about this particular vehicle type, we're here to help. Today we're talking the pros and cons of owning a pickup truck to help you firm up your decision. Pros of owning a pickup truck There are a lot of benefits to owning a pickup truck, especially if your job or lifestyle calls for one. Here are some of the main high points we hear our Orlando Toyota customers talk about. Power and towing capabilities. If you need a vehicle with a lot of horsepower and torque, then a truck should be your go-to. Trucks allow for powerful performance and above-average capabilities when it comes to getting cargo around town. You'll be able to haul much heavier loads in the bed than you would in a car or SUV's trunk, and you'll also be able to tow much heavier items behind your truck (the Orlando Toyota Tundra, for example, can tow over 10,000 lbs). Off-roading. Like taking things off the pavement? You should definitely opt for a truck! Our Toyota trucks come decked out with a variety of accessories that make off-roading easier than ever. You'll find tech and performance highlights like four-wheel drive, active traction control, CRAWL Control, tow hooks, skid plates, and multi-terrain select. Wherever adventure is calling, you'll be able to find it. Interior space AND cargo space. Some people think trucks fall short on interior space since they have a big bed in the back. They're actually wrong - trucks nowadays offer spacious cabs that can easily seat up to five with plenty of leg room to spare. And on top of that, truck beds are great for cargo whether you're getting suitcases to the airport or hauling furniture to your new apartment. Cons of owning a pickup truck Here are some of the perceived downsides of owning this type of Orlando Toyota. Fuel efficiency. Trucks won't get as good of fuel efficiency as a smaller passenger car or compact SUV. They're larger and have bigger engines, so that power is the trade-off for higher MPGs. Variety. Let's face it - between sedans, hatchbacks, coupes, and hybrids, you have a lot more variety when it comes to passenger cars than you do with trucks. Luckily, our trucks at Toyota of Orlando are pretty customizable so you'll still be able to find the features you need. Space. You'll have more interior and cargo space, but this also means you're going to be commandeering a larger vehicle around town. If you don't like driving a big ride, then a truck probably isn't right for you. Why not see for yourself and take a test drive? Toyota of Orlando is open seven days a week at 3575 Vineland Road, just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall.

Toyota to add Yaris pickup truck to the lineup

Just when you thought Toyota trucks couldn't get any more versatile... they do! Toyota has officially announced that they will be unveiling the all-new 2020 Toyota Yaris Adventure truck at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. This part-truck, part-sedan vehicle will have a two-seater cabin and a semi-roomy bed, but its real appeal will be the great fuel efficiency that it'll bring to the table. It pulls inspiration both from Toyota's truck lineup AND the popular and compact Toyota Yaris. Check it out - Toyota of Orlando has the scoop on this new Toyota truck. What will this Orlando Toyota truck have to offer? With the introduction of the 2020 Toyota Yaris Adventure, Toyota is actually creating an entirely new segment in the industry - the subcompact truck. It has a 53" bed and a payload of 297 lbs, which means you can easily take a cooler AND a set of golf clubs with you on your next adventure. The bed is composed of composite for durability. The engine is a 1.5L 4-cylinder and it churns out 103 horsepower and 112 lb-ft of torque. It also was supposed to boast Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive, a feature found in the new Orlando Toyota RAV4, but the engineering just didn't pan out. This new Toyota truck has a coil-spring double-wishbone suspension front suspension and leaf-spring rear suspensions. It also has a 7.6" ground clearance so driving over a curb is no big deal. You'll find that this new Toyota boasts tow hooks so your friends can pull you out of tight spots. You'll love the sound system in this Orlando Toyota truck. It has a 7" display audio system with 2 speakers - one in each door - and one USB port plus Bluetooth wireless streaming. Navigation is unnecessary because you most likely won't be taking things off the pavement anyway. Compact, efficient, and fun - don't miss the 2020 Toyota Yaris Adventure The exterior of this subcompact truck is sure to turn heads, too. It boasts a unique design (no one has ever seen anything like it, we can guarantee) as well as a hexagon lower front grille and automatic LED headlights with daytime running lights. Plus, you'll find that while small, the interior has just what you need. There's no backseat (so you don't have to worry about driving everyone around, obviously) and there's some storage seat behind the two seats. You'll love the superior blend of comfort, fuel efficiency, and style that this Orlando Toyota truck has to offer. We can't wait for it to hit the stage at the New York Auto Show so we can see it in all of its glory. Have questions or want more information? Follow us on social media for updates. Toyota of Orlando is conveniently located at 3575 Vineland Road, just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall. Oh, and... HAPPY APRIL FOOLS' DAY!
