More Halloween safety tips from Toyota of Orlando

Halloween is just around the corner and while we've talked about safe driving practices and prepping your car for the spookiest night of the year, we haven't really touched on how to be safe while celebrating in general. Check out these simple Halloween safety tips to keep you and your little ghouls and ghosts safe on All Hallow's Eve! 12 Halloween safety tips to use this year Tip #1: Make sure you can be seen. If you're hitting the sidewalks to collect candy this Halloween, make sure you and your little monsters can be seen. If your costumes are dark colors, consider putting reflective tape on them or having everyone carry a glow stick or flashlight so drivers can easily see them crossing the street. Tip #2: Stay on the sidewalks and crosswalks. Don't walk in the street, and don't walk in between parked cars. Trick-or-treaters should stay on the sidewalks at all times and use crosswalks to cross the street to stay out of the way of traffic and ensure that drivers see them. Tip #3: Don't trick-or-treat alone. Any child under the age of 12 should be accompanied while an adult while trick-or-treating, and even after that, no one should trick-or-treat alone. Teach your teens to stick to the buddy system at all times while they're out celebrating. Tip #4: Put away phones and don't even take AirPods with you. Put away phones, handheld games, and any other device that may distract your attention from your surroundings. Also, never wear headphones while trick-or-treating - you may not hear oncoming cars. Tip #5: Consider face paint instead of masks. Masks are definitely spooky, but full face masks can sometimes impede vision, putting your little monster in a less-than-safe situation. Consider face paint to get the costume done instead. Tip #6: Make sure your costume is the right size. Also, make sure your kids' costumes are the right size. Too-big costumes can cause tripping and falling, or get caught on things. Tip #7: Don't eat candy until it's been checked. Make it a rule that no one can dig into the candy until it's been checked back at the house. Better safe than sorry, right? Tip #8: Try to trick-or-treat in well-lit areas. This will make it easier to see the sidewalks and avoid obstacles, and also make it easier for drivers to see you when you're crossing the street. Tip #9: Buy costumes, wigs, and accessories that are flame-resistant. Tip #10: If you're carving up pumpkins on Halloween night, remember that while it's fine for kids to draw the faces and scoop out the seeds, they should let the adults do the actual carving parts. Tip #11: If you're handing out candy, ensure that all pets are put safely away so they don't escape when you open the door. Tip #12: Remind your kids that they should NEVER enter a stranger's home while trick-or-treating, nor should they let a stranger into yours while handing out candy. Happy haunting from Toyota of Orlando! From our Orlando Toyota family to yours, have a safe and happy Halloween!

Tacozilla: The Toyota Camper Concept That Still Has Adventure Fans Talking

Last updated on July 10, 2026 The Toyota Tacoma has been a mainstay in the Toyota lineup for a long time. It’s a legend among outdoorsmen, campers, off-roaders, and overlanders. This is due to its reliability and strong resale value, as well as its customization potential and off-road prowess. Whether you’re navigating city streets, exploring remote trails, or taking a cross-country road trip, the Tacoma has got you covered. This is why Toyota created one of the most memorable concepts ever at the 2021 SEMA show: the Tacozilla Toyota camper. It’s been years since its big debut, but its popularity hasn’t faded. And even though it was never put into production, it still serves as major inspiration for Tacoma owners who want the ultimate overland rig setup. Our Toyota of Orlando team is here to explain… let’s get into it! Executive Summary The Tacozilla Toyota camper is a custom Toyota camper concept built on a Toyota Tacoma platform. Toyota unveiled the concept at the 2021 SEMA Show as a tribute to classic Toyota-Chinook campers from the 1970s. The camper includes living quarters, a kitchenette, sleeping space, a bathroom, and serious off-road capability. Although Toyota has not announced production plans, the concept helped fuel growing interest in Tacoma overlanding and camper builds. The modern Tacoma lineup continues to be one of the most popular foundations for custom Toyota camper conversions. The Tacozilla Toyota Camper: A Dream Build for Adventurers When Toyota first unveiled the Tacozilla Toyota camper, off-roaders immediately took notice. The concept perfectly blended off-roading and camping, and paired that mix with a sporty Tacoma platform. It was a simple but smart idea: mix the rugged capability of an Orlando Toyota Tacoma with the comforts of a compact motorhome. The end result? A Toyota camper that could overland, off-road, and tackle tough terrain while still offering a comfy place to sleep, relax, and even cook dinner. This Toyota camper was developed by the Toyota Motorsports Garage team in Texas, and they used a Tacoma TRD Sport as the base. They also made it a point to pay homage to the classic Toyota-Chinook campers that were popular in the 1970s and 1980s (while throwing in modern engineering and off-road features). And to this day, the Tacozilla Toyota camper is still one of the most-searched Toyota concepts ever. What Made Tacozilla Toyota Camper So Popular? When you first look at the Tacozilla, it looks like something out of a retro magazine. This Toyota camper has vintage-inspired graphics, a white exterior, and a white camper shell. However, you’re getting vintage vibes with a modern Tacoma platform. Here are some of the features we love most at Toyota of Orlando: A custom-built camper body integrated into the Tacoma chassis Raised roof design for standing room inside Dining area and seating space Kitchenette with cooking capabilities Functional bathroom with toilet and running water Sleeping quarters large enough for two adults Rear access door Lifted suspension setup All-terrain tires designed for off-road travel Short rear overhang for improved approach and departure angles Retro-inspired exterior graphics The design team’s goal was to make a camper that could be comfortable but still take on tough terrain. This combo was supposed to be the perfect balance of adventure and convenience, and we think they nailed it. Toyota's Camping Heritage We think one of the reasons people loved the Tacozilla Toyota camper so much was because it wasn’t an altogether new idea. Toyota actually has a solid history with campers. Here are the highlights: In the 1970s and 1980s, companies like Chinook built camper conversions and used Toyota pickup trucks as their bases. These Toyota campers were small, fuel-efficient, and easier to drive than bigger RVs. A lot of these vintage Toyota campers are still out on the road today and are considered major collectibles. Many of those vintage Toyota campers remain on the road today, and some have even developed cult followings among collectors. The new Tacozilla pays homage to them, but mixes in advanced off-road tech and modern performance features. Why Do Tacoma Owners Love Camper Builds? Toyota has never committed to actually produce the Tacozilla for general sale, but it definitely encouraged a comeback in terms of adventure rigs. The Toyota Tacoma is one of the most modified vehicles in the automotive market, and camper conversions are some of the most popular upgrades. But what makes this Orlando Toyota truck so popular for camper conversions? Durability Toyota Tacomas are renowned for their durability and long life. It’s super common to see models with hundreds of thousands of miles on them still running strong. This makes them perfect for long-distance road trips and remote exploration. Off-Road Capability There are so many new off-road features up for grabs. At Toyota of Orlando, our Tacomas are decked out with features like Multi-Terrain Select, CRAWL Control, locking rear differentials, skid plates, and off-road suspension systems. This makes them perfect for tackling tough terrain. Strong Aftermarket Support If you buy an Orlando Toyota Tacoma, you’ve got access to one of the biggest aftermarket communities in the auto world. You can opt for aftermarket parts and accessories like roof-top tents, bed racks, suspension upgrades, camper shells, and more. Manageable Size Tacomas are capable, but they’re still easy to maneuver due to their more compact size. This is perfect for off-roaders who want versatility and comfort without a massive truck. How Has the Tacoma Has Evolved Since the Tacozilla? If you remember, the Tacozilla Toyota camper debuted at SEMA in 2021. So what’s changed since then? Well, for starters, the Orlando Toyota Tacoma was completely redesigned. It has a new look, new technology, new performance, and better off-roading capabilities. Here are some of the features we love most: Advanced multimedia technology Digital gauge displays Improved towing capabilities New powertrain options including a hybrid powertrain Advanced safety features through Toyota Safety Sense Enhanced off-road trims like the TRD Pro and Trailhunter We particularly love the new Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter. This truck has become a favorite with off-roaders and overlanders because its features are focused on performance, and it’s designed specifically for extended off-roading. Will Toyota Ever Build a Production Toyota Camper? So will there ever be another Toyota camper? A lot of people ask, and the answer is still no (at least for now). Toyota has no plans to actually mass produce the Tacozilla, much to our disappointment. However, here’s the good news - the current Orlando Toyota Tacoma is perfectly capable of being modified for overlanding and off-roading. Explore parts and accessories like: Camper shells Roof-top tents Slide-in campers Drawer storage systems Portable kitchens Solar power systems Auxiliary batteries Water storage tanks Depending on your budget and goals, you can build anything from a simple weekend adventure rig to a fully equipped overlanding vehicle. The Toyota Tacoma is versatile enough for it, so all you need is your imagination. Test Drive the Toyota Tacoma at Toyota of Orlando Want to start exploring our current lineup of Toyota Tacoma for sale? Visit us at Toyota of Orlando! We’re open seven days a week at 3575 Vineland Road just off I-4 near the Mall at Millenia. FAQs About the Tacozilla and Toyota Campers Is the Tacozilla available for purchase? Nope (sadly). The Tacozilla was created as a concept vehicle for the 2021 SEMA Show and was never released as a production model. What truck was the Tacozilla built on? The Tacozilla was built using a Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport platform and featured extensive custom modifications to create a fully functional Toyota camper. Can you turn a Toyota Tacoma into a camper? Absolutely. Many Tacoma owners install camper shells, roof-top tents, slide-in campers, or custom overlanding equipment to create their own Toyota camper setup tailored to their travel needs.

Orlando body shop repairs

Do you REALLY need body shop work for that scratch on your car?

So you scratched your car. It's a terrible feeling to damage your car paint, especially if your car is on the newer side. Most of us have had that unpleasant feeling in the pit of our stomach from doing damage unintentionally to our ride. But do you REALLY need to visit a body shop for auto repairs to do away with the scratch, or can you live with it until later down the road when you feel like dealing with it? We're here with answers. Is a scratch on your Orlando Toyota really that big of a deal? Sure, you can live with the scratch. It's annoying to look at, but it's fine to just leave it for the time being, right? Actually, wrong. Leaving scratches in your car's paint can actually cause bigger problems down the road, and our Orlando Toyota techs are here to explain. Issue #1: Rust When you scratch your car, you're basically removing the clear coat and possibly the paint that go over and protect the metal. This means you're leaving the metal part of your car exposed to the elements; namely, moisture. Moisture can then attack the exposed metal and if left long enough, cause rust. We all know just how much damage rust can do to a car if it's left untreated, so fix the scratch at our auto repair shop. Issue #2: Paint wrinkling When you leave a scratch untreated, it can actually affect the paint around it, too. Exposed edges means the paint surrounding the scratch can start to wrinkle or peel, meaning more of your car is exposed to moisture and in time, rust. Plus, it's not a good look. Issue #3: Bigger issues underneath Let's say you got into a fender bender and scratched your car. How do you know that you didn't do further damage below the surface where you can't see it? This is especially true with all of the new safety technology in newer vehicles - just because it was only a fender bender doesn't mean you didn't accidentally do damage to the sensors and other equipment in your Orlando Toyota. Issue #4: Loss of value When it comes down to it, paint scratches aren't a good look. So if you're trying to sell or trade your car and it's covered in unsightly scratches, you're likely not going to get as much as you want for it. After all, most people are put off by a car that hasn't been cared for on the outside, assuming the same is true for the interior and under the hood. Schedule auto repairs at Toyota of Orlando today So it may just seem like a minor annoyance to leave a scratch in the paint, but unfortunately, it can lead to bigger (more expensive) problems down the road. Don't let it happen to you! Schedule auto repairs at the Toyota of Orlando body shop today and let our techs get your ride back into like-new condition. We're open seven days a week at (407) 298-6006 and we're conveniently located just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall at 3575 Vineland Road.

New Toyota Prius in Orlando

6 common myths about hybrid cars

Are you considering taking the plunge and putting a new Toyota hybrid in the driveway, but having some reservations? We get it - even though hybrid cars have been around for a long time, there are still a lot of misconceptions about them floating around that could persuade people to stick to traditional gasoline-powered cars. We're here to bust these myths and help you get behind the wheel of an Orlando Toyota hybrid. Did you fall for these hybrid car myths? Myth #1: You have to plug it in. Not always. It depends on what you're driving, but a lot of people think that ALL hybrid cars have to be plugged into the wall to charge. This is only true if you have a plug-in hybrid, like the Orlando Toyota Prius Prime. Plug-in hybrids have the capability to drive on electric power alone over a longer distance - for example, the Toyota Prius Prime can go around 25 miles on electric charge because you physically charge the battery by plugging it in. Traditional hybrid cars, on the other hand, charge the battery through regenerative braking. They do not get plugged in to charge, and their capability to drive on electric power only is short and only at low speeds. Myth #2: They're way more expensive to purchase. Not anymore. Hybrid cars - admittedly - used to be pretty pricey. But as they become more common and other options (like plug-ins, electric cars, and other alternative fuel options) come available, the price has become substantially more reasonable. Plus, you have to consider the fuel that you'll save when you're out on the road. Myth #3: They're also way more expensive to maintain and repair. Nope! You'd think that because they seem complicated, Toyota hybrids are more expensive to care for. However, your engine is actually used LESS in a hybrid car since you can switch back and forth with the electric motor. This means less wear and tear on the engine and all of its parts. Plus, hybrids are so common now that it's not difficult to find a tech who knows how to work on one. Myth #4: They're awesome for fuel efficiency, but not any other performance aspects. Definitely not true! Sure, they're awesome for improved fuel efficiency and a much cleaner performance... but that's not all they have to offer. With improvements to engineering and new technology, hybrids are perfectly capable of producing tons of horsepower and torque. Take the new 2022 Toyota Tundra coming out later this year - it's got a hybrid option that offers 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. Myth #5: They're complicated to own and drive. Think again! Hybrid cars are so common now. Driving one is just like driving any other car after you've learned the lay of the land. Take a test drive to see for yourself! Myth #6: They're not even that great for the environment. OK, so maybe they're not as good for the environment as an all-electric car or a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. But they DO cut way back on emissions and use less fuel (which means they use fewer natural resources), so overall, they make an impact and offer a more environmentally-friendly option than a traditional gasoline-powered car. See for yourself! We've got tons of Toyota hybrids waiting for you at Toyota of Orlando and you can get behind the wheel today. Test drive one at 3575 Vineland Road, just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall. You can call ahead of time to schedule at (407) 298-4500!

Are you shopping for the perfect new Toyota that's a fit for the entire family? You've found it - the redesigned 2022 Toyota Sienna is here and bringing with it a slew of new features. However, we know that Toyotas aren't the only options on the market right now and we want to help you find the BEST drive time solution for your needs. That's why we're taking the time to compare this Orlando Toyota minivan to one of its strongest competitors - the 2022 Honda Odyssey. See how things stack up! How do these two new minivans compare? For comparison's sake, we're putting the 2022 Toyota Sienna XLE and the 2022 Honda Odyssey EX in the hot seats to see which of these new minivans walks away with the advantage. Let's take a look at the details. Comfort: When all is said and done, you really want a family vehicle that's comfortable inside. This means you need something spacious and ergonomic and the 2022 Toyota Sienna delivers. It offers more hip space in the front by an inch and the rear by two inches, as well as four climate control zones compared to the Honda Odyssey's three. Additionally, this new Toyota offers easy symmetrical-fold rear seats for maximum cargo space and a standard front sunroof. Otherwise, these two minivans are neck and neck in terms of interior space, comfort features, and accessibility. Performance: Let's talk about what matters most first - this new Toyota minivan is a HYBRID. This means major fuel efficiency and a much cleaner performance. Right off the bat, it gets 36/36 mpg in the city and on the highway, far surpassing the 19/22 that its Honda competition offers. You'll save a ton of money on fuel alone. This Orlando Toyota also offers performance features like regenerative brakes, plus the option of navigation via a 9" color display, neither of which are up for grabs on the Honda model. Technology: The 2022 Toyota Sienna also has a bit of an edge when it comes to technology. While both minivans offer the tech you need to make your drive time safe, convenient, and efficient, the Toyota model takes things one step further with features like a standard power liftgate, a standard coming home device and power garage door opener, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, the option of a wireless charging pad, and the Safety Connect System, which you'll only find on Toyotas. Additionally, the 2022 Toyota Sienna offers a superior audio system with 8 speakers (and the optional JBL upgrade with 12 speakers), as well as an optional subwoofer and wireless headphones that go with the rear seat entertainment system, a feature not available on the Honda Odyssey. Toyota Mirai sets Guinness World Record

The 2021 Toyota Mirai is a pretty insanely cool car. It's. hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, which means it runs on hydrogen - not gasoline - and emits nothing but water vapor when it's out and about on the roads. It's extremely efficient, eco-friendly, and also teched out with the latest and greatest features for convenience, entertainment, and safety. However, it's adding one more accolade to its list - it just broke a Guinness World Record. New Toyota Mirai drives 845 miles on one fuel-up Yup, you heard us right - the new Toyota Mirai broke a Guinness World Record by traveling 845 miles on a single hydrogen fill. Our Orlando Toyota dealership has all the info! To fill the Toyota Mirai with hydrogen, it takes about five minutes. So basically, this car drove almost 1,000 miles after a five minute fuel-up. Behind the wheel were professional drivers Wayne Gerdes and Bob Winger; they left the Toyota Technical Center in Gardena, California (this is where the fuel cell development group is housed). From there, they took two days to put in the 845 miles. They traveled south to San Ysidro and then up to Santa Barbara via the Pacific Coast Highway. Throw in some local driving loops and rush hour traffic on the San Diego freeway between LA and Orange County, and you've got your 845 miles. The record is legit, too - Guinness World Records monitored the whole thing very closely to ensure it happened the way it was supposed to. Michael Empiric, a Guinness employee, validated the process by putting a seal on the Toyota Mirai's tank once it had been filled. If the seal was broken at any point, that means fuel was added and the record was not validated. The seal was intact when the 845-mile marker was hit, meaning this is one for the books (literally). “The Toyota Mirai’s journey without the need to refuel showcases the power of fuel cell electric technology. This technology and the design ingenuity by the team at Toyota led to a history-making moment," said Empiric. But record-setting distance capability isn't all that the new Toyota Mirai has to offer. Here are some of the highlights of this unique alternative fuel Toyota: This teched-out new Toyota offers a 12.3" infotainment screen and features like dynamic navigation, Bluetooth wireless streaming, a color head-up display, AppleCar Play and Android Auto, and an optional JBL sound system. Performance features like rear-wheel drive, a 402 mile range, and three drive modes (ECO, Normal, and Sport) allow you to customize your drive time to your individual needs. A sleek, sedan-like exterior and a luxurious interior with features like a panoramic moonroof, satin-silver or copper-colored accents, and heated and ventilated seats ensure a comfortable drive no matter where the road takes you.
