types of car washes

Which is better, a hand car wash or touchless car wash?

When it comes down to detailing the exterior of your car, it's all in how you wash it. But how SHOULD you wash it? Is driving through a touchless car wash OK, or should you be buying supplies to give your car a hand car wash when it needs to be cleaned? The expert auto service techs at Toyota of Orlando are here to explain the differences between hand car washes and touchless car washes and help you decide which is best for your car. Toyota of Orlando breaks down the different types of car washes Let's break down the differences between the two: A hand car wash is just what it sounds like - you wash your Orlando Toyota by hand with special detailing tools that you can find at our parts store. You'll use sponges, special soap, microfiber rags, etc. to get the car clean and also dry it by hand at the end to avoid water spots on the glass and paint as it dries. A touchless car wash is also just what it sounds like - no hand washing. These are the drive-through car washes that are automatic and mechanized. You drive into one, park, and let the machine do its thing. At the end, it'll blow air over your vehicle to push water off and hopefully dry it without water spots. So which is right for your Toyota - a hand car wash or a touchless car wash? Here are the pros and cons of each. Pros and cons of hand car washes and touchless car washes Hand car wash pros: When you wash your Orlando Toyota by hand, you definitely have complete control over the situation. You get to decide which products you use, how long you take when you wash it, and whether or not you repeat steps for an extra-clean finish. You'll also be able to pay more attention to small cracks and crevices, dried on bugs or bird poop, and the undercarriage of your car - all things that may not be covered in a touchless car wash. Plus, it's cheaper. Your main investment will be buying the supplies upfront and then your time. Hand car wash cons: There are a few cons. There's always the risk of damage to your car's paint if you hand wash it improperly - dirty sponges and rags can cause tiny scratches, the wrong products can cause damage, etc. Additionally, if you pay someone to hand wash your car, it can get pretty costly. Touchless car wash pros: Touchless car washes are convenient, for starters. You can sit back, relax, and let the machine take care of the work in just minutes. If you don't have time to detail your own car, they're a godsend. They're also gentler on the paint because you're not scrubbing it by hand, and are usually pretty affordable, especially if you buy a package of them or a membership. Touchless car wash cons: While touchless car washes are gentler on your car's paint, you might also get the other side of the coin where your car isn't quite as clean as you'd like it. Plus, sometimes the air dryer doesn't cut it and you end up with annoying water spots on your paint. So which is best for you? It really just depends on your time and your personal preference. A mix of both is probably best, but it's completely up to you. And Toyota of Orlando can help! We have a touchless car wash on site that we can run your car through if you're in a hurry, and we also have a Toyota parts store full of detailing supplies so you can hand wash your car when you want to. sunroof

Moonroof vs Sunroof: What's the difference?

When you buy a new Toyota, is a moonroof or sunroof on your must-have list of features? It's a great way to let the outside in without having to commit to a convertible. However, what's the difference between a moon roof and a sunroof? Is there even one, or are they interchangeable ways to refer to the hole in the roof of your car? Toyota of Orlando is here to explain. What is a sunroof? A sunroof - believe it or not - is a panel in a car that can be slid back, tilted, or removed entirely to let the sunshine and fresh air in. The key takeaway here is that a sunroof used to be entirely opaque - you couldn't see through it. What is a moonroof? A moonroof, on the other hand, is glass (i.e. not opaque) so you can see through it. Sometimes the glass is tinted to let a little less light in. Like a sunroof, a moonroof can be slid or tilted open and closed. Unlike a traditional sunroof, moonroofs are not removable and usually come with a shade if you want to keep the sun out of your car. Technically, a moonroof is considered to be a type of sunroof. What about a panoramic roof? Panoramic roofs are relatively new to the game in the automotive industry but they're a cool feature. Basically, they're two large glass panels that span the length of the roof and let light into both the front and back seats of the car. They can be fixed (not movable) or slide open and closed like moonroofs. Should you get one on your next Orlando Toyota? Thinking about making a moonroof or sunroof a must-have feature on your list for your next Orlando Toyota? Here are some pros and cons. Pros: You can let fresh air and sunshine in when the weather is good (and the rain beating on the glass looks cool when the weather isn't good). They're safer than a soft-top convertible, which usually has a canvas roof that's both dangerous in car accidents and also easily ripped or cut for thieves to get into the car. They're a lot less work than a hard-top convertible. Many of the Toyotas at Toyota of Orlando have one-touch moonroofs that slide open with one press of a button. Cons: They can clog. If you park in an area under trees, constant dripping water during the rainy season can actually clog the drainage system and make your car smell (our techs at Toyota of Orlando can flush it out for you). They can leak. Factory-installed sunroofs and moonroofs rarely leak, but aftermarket sunroofs can be a big problem in this department. Still have questions or want to check out a sunroof, moonroof, or panoramic roof in person? Visit Toyota of Orlando today! We're open seven days a week at 3575 Vineland Road and we're just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall.

manual transmission

2023 Toyota Supra will feature a new manual transmission

The new and improved Orlando Toyota Supra has been a fan favorite since day one, offering an exceptional sports car with exciting performance capabilities and a sleek, modern look. However, the one category that some found it lacking in was the transmission - specifically, they wanted a manual transmission, and the redesign was only available in an automatic. That's all changing for the upcoming 2023 model year - the newest version of the Orlando Toyota Supra will boast an all-new manual transmission option and more. Toyota of Orlando has details! Here's what we know so far about the 2023 Toyota Supra's manual transmission It will be available on the Toyota Supra 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and a new A91-MT model coming out in 2023. It will be a six-speed intelligent Manual Transmission to accompany the 3.0L 381 horsepower engine. The transmission was designed, engineered, and tuned specifically for the Toyota Supra with modified housing, gear set, and driveshaft to remove anything unnecessary and reduce weight. A newly engineered large diameter clutch with a reinforced diaphragm spring and larger friction area results in the right conditions for high torque. The intelligent manual transmission is programmed with new software to prioritize the sporty performance of the car, optimizing engine torque and fine-tuning downshifts. Additionally, iTM mode can be shut off to utilize Sport Mode. Toyota also put a large amount of consideration into how the gear shifter should be positioned inside of the cockpit. It was set up to minimize the effort needed to both change gears and also engage the reverse gear, and ergonomics were additionally considered when it came to placement. Traction and braking have also been optimized with the addition of the new manual transmission; the traction control system has been tuned to achieve smoother operation as well as handle high engine torque and rear-wheel drive. Traction control was also tuned to ensure a balance of agility and stability when cornering. A new Hairpin+ function has also been added to the 2023 Toyota Supra manual transmission. It allows for more freedom and reward when you're taking tight turns on an uphill gradient and also allows for a greater difference in the degree of wheel spin on the left-side and right-side tires. Anti-Roll Program has been added to both the manual and automatic models of this Orlando Toyota for 2023. This tech avoids the "snap-off" oversteer and covers any loss of grip. Track mode has also been tuned to allow for easy drifting with less risk of spinning out. That's what we know so far. We also know that the A91-MT special edition will only be available for a limited time; Toyota is only producing 500 models to bring to market. It'll be sporting cognac leather trim on the interior as well as a 12-speaker JBL Sound System, and the exterior will showcase a red Supra badge and red Supra brake calipers. what is a blind spot

Everything you need to know about blind spots

Every single time you get behind the wheel of a car, it's your responsibility to ensure that you put your best safe driving habits to good use. One concept in safe driving that comes up a lot - and is actually responsible for quite a few car accidents - is that of blind spots. Our Orlando Toyota dealership is here to explain what they are and how to work around them to keep you safe when you're out on the road. What is a blind spot? A blind spot is basically a spot or area around your vehicle that you cannot see when using your mirrors or cameras. To be able to see this area on the road, you have to physically turn your head and look to check that it's clear. Almost all vehicles have a blind spot regardless of their design, usually because of the A-pillar on the windshield and other pillars throughout the car, headrests, cargo in the vehicle, and even your rearview mirror. This means every driver needs to know where their car's blind spots are and how to check them. Why? Because when it boils down to it, they're dangerous. They obstruct your view of the road and could lead to you assuming that the path is clear, resulting in a car accident. A common blind spot accident that we see at our Toyota of Orlando body shop is when a driver assumes that the lane next to them is clear and changes lanes without checking, running into a car that was obscured by the blind spot. How to check your blind spot How do you check it? Basically, you just turn your head to look over your shoulder (or wherever the spot is). However, it's important to do this quickly and seamlessly so you're not taking your eyes off the road for too long. Plus, there are ways to minimize your blind spots and make the process of checking them easy. Here are a few Orlando Toyota tips: Always pack your car carefully. Never stack your cargo to block your view out of the back or side windows; make sure you always have a clear field of vision. Make sure your mirrors are adjusted properly. For your rearview mirror, you want to ensure you can see clearly out of the back of your vehicle. For your side mirrors, you want them aimed straight and tilted inward slightly so you can see just a little bit of the side of your vehicle. Remember, if you adjust your seat, you'll need to readjust your mirrors. Use your blind spot monitor. Many of our new Orlando Toyotas have blind spot monitor technology built into them that will flash a light in your side mirror AND alert you with noise when there's a car or other object in your blind spot, reminding you to turn and check before you make a move. If you don't have a blind spot monitor, look into add-ons like blind spot mirrors. These small, round mirrors stick onto your existing side mirrors to give you a wider field of vision and make it easy to check the spot. Have questions or want to check out blind spot monitor tech in person? Or maybe you need a little help after a car accident. Let Toyota of Orlando help - we're open seven days a week at 3575 Vineland Road, just off I-4 near the Millenia Mall. Call us now at (407) 298-4500!

2023 GR Corolla Special Edition

New MORIZO Edition coming to the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla

The all-new (and much-hyped) 2023 Toyota GR Corolla is coming to Toyota of Orlando, and people. Are. Ready. It'll be arriving at some point later this year (follow us on social media for updates) and with it bring an all-new hot hatch option for drivers who need some excitement in their day-to-day commute. However, we've got even more news to share about this upcoming model - a special MORIZO Edition is being brought to market, and our Orlando Toyota dealership has the details. See what this all-new Orlando Toyota is bringing to the table This special edition GR Corolla is track-ready with tighter handling, a highly rigid body, and a special high power-to-weight ratio. Here's what we know so far: The MORIZO Edition will offer drivers 300 horsepower and improved torque of 295 lb-ft (upgraded from the 273 lb-ft you'll find on the other models) as well as a retuned engine for enhanced power. This special edition also showcases an exclusive close-ratio intelligent Manual Transmission and shorter differential gears for more exciting acceleration. Almost 100 lbs of weight have been removed from the MORIZO Edition to make it ultra-light and ready to race; curb weight is an estimated 3,186 lbs. This was achieved by removing the rear seats and adding a forged carbon fiber roof and forged wheels. This two-seater design also allowed for the removal of rear door speakers, rear window regulators, and rear wiper blade and motor to lighten things up further. New tires were added for improved handling - this special edition of the GR Corolla sits on 18" forged alloy wheels that have an exclusive matte black finish and the Toyota GAZOO Racing logo on the rim. Here's what we know so far: The MORIZO Edition will offer drivers 300 horsepower and improved torque of 295 lb-ft (upgraded from the 273 lb-ft you'll find on the other models) as well as a retuned engine for enhanced power.
